CATHOLIC CHARITIES MAINE (CCM) WILL RECRUIT AND PLACE 165 UNDUPLICATED RSVP VOLUNTEERS IN KENNEBEC COUNTY AND SOMERSET COUNTY, MAINE BETWEEN APRIL 1, 2019 - MARCH 30, 2022. ALL WILL BE PLACED IN NATIONAL PERFORMANCE MEASURE (NPM) WORKPLANS THAT SUPPORT THE HEALTHY FUTURES PRIMARY FOCUS AREA. UNDUPLICATED VOLUNTEERS WILL BE PLACED IN THREE WORKPLANS: COMPANIONSHIP (70 VOLUNTEERS), TRANSPORTATION (70 VOLUNTEERS) AND REFERRALS (25 VOLUNTEERS). ALL ARE DESIGNED TO ASSIST ISOLATED, LOW INCOME SENIORS. VOLUNTEER ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE WEEKLY VISITS WITH SENIORS IN THEIR HOMES, ASSISTANCE WITH CHORES IN THE HOME AND YARD, SOCIAL INTERACTION, DRIVING SENIORS TO MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS, GROCERY STORE, DRUG STORE, AND REFERRING THEM TO COMMUNITY SERVICES FOR SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD, FINANCIAL SUPPORT, AND HOMEMAKING ASSISTANCE. CCM WILL BE THE SPONSOR AGENCY AND WILL DIRECTLY OVERSEE 2 VOLUNTEER STATIONS; ONE EACH IN KENNEBEC AND SOMERSET COUNTY. THE RSVP SPONSORED BY CCM WILL SERVE 198 LOW-INCOME SENIORS - THE MAJORITY OF WHO LIVE ALONE, DO NOT DRIVE/LACK ACCESS TO TRANSPORTATION, AND ARE SOCIALLY ISOLATED. AT THE END OF THE THREE- YEAR GRANT, WE EXPECT THE FOLLOWING OUTCOMES UNDER NPM H9A: INDIVIDUALS WILL REPORT IMPROVED CAPACITY FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING: - 178 SENIORS WILL REPORT THAT COMPANIONSHIP IMPROVED THEIR CAPACITY FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING; - 168 SENIORS WILL REPORT TRANSPORTATION IMPROVED THEIR CAPACITY FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING; AND - 89 SENIORS WILL REPORT REFERRAL SERVICES IMPROVED THEIR CAPACITY FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING.
