SIERRA NEVADA JOURNEYS (SNJ) PROPOSES AN INNOVATIVE PROGRAM THAT INCLUDES A COMPREHENSIVE, EDUCATIONAL APPROACH TO ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE (EJ). THE CURRICULUM IS DESIGNED FOR 3RD-6TH GRADE STUDENTS AND PROVIDES IN-CLASS LESSONS, FIELD-STUDY EXPERIENCES, TEACHER RESOURCES, A PARENT ENGAGEMENT COMPONENT, AND VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES FOR BOTH PARENTS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. THE FOCUS OF THE PROGRAM WILL BE GALVANIZING YOUTH TO ADDRESS POLLUTED DRINKING WATER, GROUNDWATER THREATS, AND WATER CONSERVATION, ALL EXPLORED THROUGH THE LENS OF STEM (SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATH). THIS AGREEMENT PROVIDES FEDERAL FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT OF $30,000. PREAWARD COSTS APPROVED BACK TO 9/1/2017.
