AS AN INTERMEDIARY AGENCY, CATHOLIC CHARITIES NH WOULD SERVE NUMEROUS COMMUNITIES; MEETING THE NEEDS OF THE LOW-INCOME POPULATION AT A STATEWIDE LEVEL. OUR WORK WITH CNCS WOULD INCLUDE RECRUITMENT OF POTENTIAL AGENCIES FOR PLACEMENT, RECRUITMENT AND ASSESSMENT OF POTENTIAL AMERICORPS VISTA MEMBERS, MATCHING AMERICORPS VISTA MEMBERS WITH APPROPRIATE COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, SUPERVISING AND SUSTAINING AMERICORPS VISTA MEMBERS AND MANAGING THE OVERALL AMERICORPS VISTA PROGRAM. CCNH WILL GIVE HOST SITES UP TO THREE YEARS TO ACHIEVE THEIR GOALS, AND IN TURN WILL THEN BE RE-EVALUATED. CATHOLIC CHARITIES NH IS A MEMBER OF CATHOLIC CHARITIES--USA, WHICH HAS DEVELOPED A NATIONAL AGENDA TO REDUCE POVERTY IN THE UNITED STATES. CATHOLIC CHARITIES NH IS COMMITTED TO THIS GOAL; AND THROUGH ITS MANY PROGRAMS, JOINS WITH OUR NATIONAL OFFICE IN ESTABLISHING CONCRETE PROGRAMS TO REDUCE POVERTY HERE IN OUR STATE. CATHOLIC CHARITIES NEW HAMPSHIRE IS UNIQUELY POSITIONED TO SERVE AS A STATEWIDE INTERMEDIARY AGENCY FOR CNCS DUE TO OUR STATEWIDE PROGRAM SERVICES AND PARTNERSHIPS. CATHOLIC CHARITIES NEW HAMPSHIRE WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1945 WITH A PRIMARY FOCUS ON SERVING NEGLECTED AND ABANDONED CHILDREN THROUGH A NETWORK OF CHILDREN'S HOMES. OVER THE PAST 65 PLUS YEARS, WE HAVE GROWN TO BECOME ONE OF THE LARGEST NOT-FOR-PROFIT SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES IN NEW HAMPSHIRE, SERVING MORE THAN 100,000 PEOPLE IN NEED IN 2017. WE EXIST TO ACHIEVE SOCIAL JUSTICE AND PROVIDE QUALITY PROGRAMS AND SERVICES THAT HEAL, COMFORT, AND EMPOWER NEW HAMPSHIRE RESIDENTS. OUR SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE TO ANYONE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE, REGARDLESS OF THEIR RELIGION, RACE, GENDER, AGE, OR INCOME STATUS. CATHOLIC CHARITIES NH HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL IN ESTABLISHING PROGRAMS TO ADDRESS THE NEEDS OF HUNGER, CHILD ABUSE, FAMILY DYSFUNCTION, IMMIGRANTS AND REFUGEES, PARENTHOOD EDUCATION, AND THE ELDERLY. OUR KEY PROGRAMS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: * OUR PLACE--EMPOWERING YOUNG PARENTS THROUGH PREGNANCY, PRE-NATAL, AND PARENTING EDUCATION, AND ENCOURAGING POSITIVE LIFE CHANGES TO BENEFIT THEMSELVES AND THEIR CHILDREN * ST. CHARLES CHILDREN'S HOME--PROVIDING A SAFE, LOVING AND STABLE HOME ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN WHO CANNOT BE IN THEIR OWN HOMES DUE TO NEGLECT OR ABUSE * ADOPTION SERVICES--SUPPORTING BIRTH PARENTS AND ADOPTIVE COUPLES WITH COUNSELING, HOME STUDIES, AND POST-ADOPTION PLACEMENT SERVICES AS WELL AS PRIVATE AND INTERNATIONAL ADOPTION ASSISTANCE * COUNSELING SERVICES--HELPING PEOPLE COPE MORE EFFECTIVELY WITH STRESS, REDUCE ISOLATION, AND INCREASE THEIR SELF-ESTEEM, AND STRENGTHENING INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS * NEW HAMPSHIRE FOOD BANK--IN 2018, THE NH FOOD BANK PROVIDED 14.1 MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD TO FEED OVER 180,000 HUNGRY MEN, WOMEN, AND CHILDREN LIVING IN POVERTY THROUGHOUT NH * IMMIGRATION AND REFUGEE SERVICES--OFFERING NEWCOMERS A VARIETY OF SERVICES, INCLUDING CASEWORK, GUIDANCE AND IMMIGRATION COUNSELING, AND LEGAL REPRESENTATION THROUGHOUT THE CITIZENSHIP PROCESS * PARISH AND COMMUNITY SERVICES--TEN STAFFED DISTRICT OUTREACH OFFICES ACROSS THE STATE, PROVIDE DIRECT ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN NEED. IN ADDITION TO THESE DIRECT SERVICE PROGRAMS AS PART OF THE AGENCIES DAILY WORK, CATHOLIC CHARITIES NEW HAMPSHIRE DISTRICT OFFICE STAFF HAVE FORMED CLOSE COLLABORATIVE WORKING RELATIONSHIPS WITH MANY LOCAL HUMAN RESOURCE AGENCIES PROVIDING SERVICES ACROSS THE STATE, INCLUDING (BUT NOT LIMITED TO): * FOOD PANTRIES * SOUP KITCHENS * SHELTERS FOR HOMELESS * SUPPORT FOR UNEMPLOYED * EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO LOCAL DISASTERS * CARE GIVING SUPPORT TO SENIORS * ADVOCACY FOR THE POOR * SERVICES FOR THE DISABLED.
