THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART COLLECTIONS DATABASE WILL IMPROVE THE MANAGEMENT OF THE MUSEUM'S COLLECTIONS THROUGH STANDARDIZED VOCABULARIES AND LOCATION HIERARCHIES, ENHANCED REPORTING CAPABILITIES, IMPROVED SECURITY AND ACCESS FEATURES, AND STREAMLINED PROCESSES FOR CATALOGING OBJECTS AND UPDATING RECORDS. CURRENTLY LESS THAN 3 PERCENT (1,400 RECORDS) OF THE MUSEUM'S COLLECTION OF 50,000 OBJECTS IS AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC SEARCH; AN ONLINE COLLECTIONS PORTAL WILL MAKE THE ENTIRE COLLECTION ACCESSIBLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC FOR THE FIRST TIME."
