MERAKEY PARKSIDE RECOVERY PROVIDES EVIDENCE-BASED TREATMENT TO OVER 2,000 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS/YEAR. 97% OF MERAKEY PARKSIDE CLIENTS INJECT DRUGS. THE MAJORITY OF CLIENTS HAVE A CO-OCCURRING MENTAL HEALTH DISORDER, EXPERIENCE HOUSING INSECURITY, AND HAVE HAD INTERACTIONS WITH THE JUSTICE SYSTEM. 40% OF CLIENTS IDENTIFY AS BLACK OR AFRICAN AMERICAN AND APPROXIMATELY 10% IDENTIFY AS HISPANIC/LATINO. 65% IDENTIFY AS MALE. IN RECENT YEARS, PHILADELPHIA HAS HAD ONE OF THE HIGHEST RATES OF DEATH FROM UNINTENTIONAL DRUG OVERDOSES AMONG THE NATION'S LARGEST CITIES AND COUNTIES. IN 2018, THE CITY RECORDED 1,116 DRUG RELATED DEATHS. OPIOIDS WERE FOUND IN MORE THAN 84% OF THOSE DRUG DEATHS. IN 2020, THOSE NUMBERS CONTINUE TO RISE, AND PHILADELPHIA IS FACING A SERIOUS PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS. SUD TREATMENT NEEDS TO SUPPORT SUSTAINED RECOVERY BY INCREASING ACCESS TO EMPLOYMENT. BY HOLDING A JOB, INDIVIDUALS ESTABLISH A LEGAL SOURCE OF INCOME, STRUCTURED USE OF TIME, AND IMPROVED SELF-ESTEEM, WHICH IN TURN FOSTERS AND STRENGTHENS RECOVERY. THE FOCUS OF MERAKEY'S PROPOSAL IS TO SUPPORT RECOVERY BY: IMPLEMENTING A PREVOCATIONAL WORKFORCE TRAINING PROGRAM AND WORKFORCE CARE MANAGEMENT TEAM COMPRISED OF CASE MANAGERS, CAREER NAVIGATORS, AND A CERTIFIED PEER SPECIALIST; ASSISTING CLIENTS IN SECURING AND RETAINING EMPLOYMENT; AND INCREASING THE CAPACITY OF EMPLOYERS TO HIRE AND RETAIN THE INDIVIDUALS IN RECOVERY. THE PROGRAM, PREVIOUSLY PILOTED AT MERAKEY'S WEST PHILADELPHIA SITE, IS ALREADY SUPPORTED BY THE LOCAL PHILADELPHIA WORKFORCE BOARD AND ALIGNS WITH THE CITY'S PRIORITY TO REDUCE OPIOID-RELATED FATALITIES AND SUPPORT THOSE IN RECOVERY WITH RETURNING TO THE WORKFORCE. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, CLIENTS WILL DEVELOP LIFELONG SKILLS AND SOCIAL CONNECTIONS THAT INCREASE ACCESS TO EMPLOYMENT, IMPROVE SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH, AND EMPOWER THEM IN THEIR RECOVERY. THE RECOVERY THROUGH WORK CURRICULUM COVERS A WIDE RANGE OF TOPICS, INCLUDING COMPUTER LITERACY, INTERVIEWING SKILLS, FINANCIAL LITERACY, AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE. OVER THE FIVE-YEAR GRANT PERIOD, 390 UNIQUE CLIENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENROLL IN THIS 10-WEEK RECOVERY THROUGH WORK PROGRAM AND RECEIVE THE ASSOCIATED SUPPORTS FROM THE WORKFORCE CARE MANAGEMENT TEAM. IN THE FIRST AND FINAL YEARS, THE PROGRAM WILL SERVE 60 CLIENTS ANNUALLY; IN YEARS TWO AND THROUGH FOUR, 90 CLIENTS ANNUALLY WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE PROGRAM. IN ADDITION, 125 UNIQUE EMPLOYERS WILL ACTIVELY COLLABORATE WITH THE PROGRAM TO HELP INDIVIDUALS IN RECOVERY OBTAIN SELF-SUSTAINING EMPLOYMENT. ARISE MEMBER INSTITUTIONS SHARE THE COMMON GOAL OF INCREASING THEIR CAPACITY TO SUPPORT R&D ACTIVITIES IN PARTNERSHIP WITH REGIONAL INDUSTRIES. THIS PROPOSAL FOCUSES ON THE CHARACTERIZATION OF THESE AND RELATED ENZYME ACTIVITIES USING BIOCHEMICAL AND GENETIC APPROACHES. SPECIFIC AIM 1 ADDRESSES THE NATURE OF SPECIFIC BUTYRATE KINASE VARIANTS AND THE INFLUENCE CERTAIN AMINO ACID SUBSTITUTIONS EXERT REGARDING ACTIVITY AND FUNCTION. THROUGH THESE STUDIES, BIOLOGISTS CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT CHANGES HAVE HAPPENED THROUGH TIME; GET A GOOD GLIMPSE OF THE VARIABILITY WITHIN A SPECIES, AND EVEN PREDICT WHETHER THEY ARE LIKELY TO SURVIVE WITH GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES. MORPHOLOGICAL DATA IS BEST ACQUIRED USING 3D IMAGING TECHNOLOGIES. THESE TECHNOLOGIES CAN RANGE FROM SURFACE SCANNERS TO HIGH-RESOLUTION 3D MICROSCOPES THAT USE UV OR X-RAY TO COLLECT DATA. BIOLOGISTS THEN PROCESS AND VISUALIZE THESE DATASETS IN COMPUTERS TO EITHER COLLECT DATA FOR RESEARCH OR USE THEM AS VISUAL AIDS IN THE CLASSROOM. HOWEVER, SOME OF THESE IMAGING MODALITIES PRODUCES DATASETS THAT ARE MUCH LARGER THAN TYPICAL PERSONAL COMPUTERS CAN HANDLE; OR MAY REQUIRE SPECIALIZED SOFTWARE THAT MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE DUE TO LICENSING OR COST ISSUES. BOTH CAN HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO CREATE SHARING AND USAGE OBSTACLES FOR PUBLICLY FUNDED DATA, IMPEDING TEACHING, SCIENTIFIC EXPLORATION AND COLLABORATION. THIS PROJECT PROVIDES EQUITABLE AND CONVENIENT ACCESS TO PUBLICLY FUNDED CYBERINFRASTRUCTURE (JETSTREAM2) AND DATA RESOURCES (MORPHOSOURCE) FOR BIOLOGISTS, WHO OTHERWISE MAY NOT BENEFIT FROM THEIR AVAILABILITY; EITHER BECAUSE THEY LACK THE COMPUTATIONAL RESOURCES OR THE TECHNICAL EXPERTISE TO USE THEM. THE PROJECT TEAM WILL ALSO TRAIN HUNDREDS OF EARLY CAREER SCIENTISTS, WHOSE RESEARCH AND TEACHING WILL BENEFIT FROM THE EASY MANIPULATION AND USE OF DIGITAL BIOLOGICAL SPECIMENS. ADDITIONALLY, BOOTCAMP OPPORTUNITIES WILL TRANSFORM MOTIVATED GRAD STUDENTS AND POST-DOCS INTO FUTURE INVENTORS OF NEW ANALYTICAL TOOLS AND FUNCTIONALITIES, WHICH WILL GROW THE COMMUNITY OF MORPHOLOGISTS WORKING IN DIGITAL ENVIRONMENTS. MORPHOCLOUD WILL MAKE WORKING WITH DIGITAL BIOLOGICAL SPECIMEN DATA AS ROUTINE AS WORKING WITH GENOMICS DATA, SO THAT BIOLOGISTS CAN FOCUS ON THEIR SCIENTIFIC QUESTIONS RATHER THAN GET BOGGED DOWN WITH COMPLEX WORKFLOWS, TECHNICALITIES, AND LIMITED RESOURCES. PROPOSED CLOUD SERVICES AND ANALYTICAL TOOLS WILL ALSO MAKE WIDER-SCALE, MULTI-LAB COLLABORATIONS FRICTION-FREE, VIA DERIVED DATA EXCHANGE OF 3D PHENOTYPES. SUCH A TRANSITION PROVIDES FERTILE GROUND FOR RESEARCH INTO IMPROVING UNDERGRADUATE STEM EDUCATION IN COMPUTING FIELDS, SPECIFICALLY IN BROADENING PARTICIPATION FOR UNDERREPRESENTED STUDENTS AND IMPROVING LEARNING OUTCOMES. THERE ARE ONGOING CHALLENGES IN ATTRACTING AND RETAINING MARGINALIZED STUDENTS TO COMPUTING, SPECIFICALLY WOMEN FROM ALL RACES AND ETHNICITIES AND BLACK AND HISPANIC MALES. THIS PROJECT INTENDS TO EXPLORE THE IMPACT OF COMBINING INCLUSIVE AND EQUITABLE ACTIVE LEARNING APPROACHES IN COMPUTING COURSES IN ONLINE SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS (OSLES) ACROSS MULTIPLE INSTITUTIONS WITH A LEARNING ASSISTANT MODEL. THE PROPOSED APPROACH HAS THE POTENTIAL TO IMPROVE STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES AND RETENTION RATES IN COMPUTING. THIS PROJECT'S PRIMARY GOAL IS TO EXPLORE THE IMPACT OF INTEGRATING INCLUSIVE AND EQUITABLE ACTIVE LEARNING APPROACHES IN COMPUTING OSLES AND SHARING RESOURCES ACROSS MULTIPLE INSTITUTIONS ON STUDENTS' LEARNING OUTCOMES, ENGAGEMENT, AND RETENTION. THE PROJECT TEAM PLANS TO USE A MIXED-METHODS EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN TO INVESTIGATE FOUR RESEARCH QUESTIONS FOCUSING ON CONDUCTING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, USING ACTIVE LEARNING APPROACHES ON STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES AND RETENTION RATES, SHARING COURSES ACROSS INSTITUTIONS, AND BROADENING PARTICIPATION IN COMPUTING. RECOVERY THROUGH WORK - AS ONE OF THE LARGEST MEDICATION ASSISTED TREATMENT (MAT) PROVIDERS IN PHILADELPHIA, PA, MERAKEY PARKSIDE RECOVERY SEEKS TO INTEGRATE RECOVERY THROUGH WORK, A COMPREHENSIVE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM, INTO ITS SUBSTANCE USE DISORDER (SUD)/CO-OCCURRING DISORDER (COD) TREATMENT AT THREE SITES LOCATED IN MEDICALLY UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES: WEST PHILADELPHIA, GERMANTOWN, AND GREATER NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA. MERAKEY PARKSIDE RECOVERY PROVIDES EVIDENCE-BASED TREATMENT TO OVER 2,000 UNIQUE INDIVIDUALS/YEAR. 97% OF MERAKEY PARKSIDE CLIENTS INJECT DRUGS. THE MAJORITY OF CLIENTS HAVE A CO-OCCURRING MENTAL HEALTH DISORDER, EXPERIENCE HOUSING INSECURITY, AND HAVE HAD INTERACTIONS WITH THE JUSTICE SYSTEM. 40% OF CLIENTS IDENTIFY AS BLACK OR AFRICAN AMERICAN AND APPROXIMATELY 10% IDENTIFY AS HISPANIC/LATINO. 65% IDENTIFY AS MALE. IN RECENT YEARS, PHILADELPHIA HAS HAD ONE OF THE HIGHEST RATES OF DEATH FROM UNINTENTIONAL DRUG OVERDOSES AMONG THE NATION'S LARGEST CITIES AND COUNTIES. IN 2018, THE CITY RECORDED 1,116 DRUG RELATED DEATHS. OPIOIDS WERE FOUND IN MORE THAN 84% OF THOSE DRUG DEATHS. IN 2020, THOSE NUMBERS CONTINUE TO RISE, AND PHILADELPHIA IS FACING A SERIOUS PUBLIC HEALTH CRISIS. SUD TREATMENT NEEDS TO SUPPORT SUSTAINED RECOVERY BY INCREASING ACCESS TO EMPLOYMENT. BY HOLDING A JOB, INDIVIDUALS ESTABLISH A LEGAL SOURCE OF INCOME, STRUCTURED USE OF TIME, AND IMPROVED SELF-ESTEEM, WHICH IN TURN FOSTERS AND STRENGTHENS RECOVERY. THE FOCUS OF MERAKEY'S PROPOSAL IS TO SUPPORT RECOVERY BY: IMPLEMENTING A PREVOCATIONAL WORKFORCE TRAINING PROGRAM AND WORKFORCE CARE MANAGEMENT TEAM COMPRISED OF CASE MANAGERS, CAREER NAVIGATORS, AND A CERTIFIED PEER SPECIALIST; ASSISTING CLIENTS IN SECURING AND RETAINING EMPLOYMENT; AND INCREASING THE CAPACITY OF EMPLOYERS TO HIRE AND RETAIN THE INDIVIDUALS IN RECOVERY. THE PROGRAM, PREVIOUSLY PILOTED AT MERAKEY'S WEST PHILADELPHIA SITE, IS ALREADY SUPPORTED BY THE LOCAL PHILADELPHIA WORKFORCE BOARD AND ALIGNS WITH THE CITY'S PRIORITY TO REDUCE OPIOID-RELATED FATALITIES AND SUPPORT THOSE IN RECOVERY WITH RETURNING TO THE WORKFORCE. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, CLIENTS WILL DEVELOP LIFELONG SKILLS AND SOCIAL CONNECTIONS THAT INCREASE ACCESS TO EMPLOYMENT, IMPROVE SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH, AND EMPOWER THEM IN THEIR RECOVERY. THE RECOVERY THROUGH WORK CURRICULUM COVERS A WIDE RANGE OF TOPICS, INCLUDING COMPUTER LITERACY, INTERVIEWING SKILLS, FINANCIAL LITERACY, AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE. OVER THE FIVE-YEAR GRANT PERIOD, 390 UNIQUE CLIENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENROLL IN THIS 10-WEEK RECOVERY THROUGH WORK PROGRAM AND RECEIVE THE ASSOCIATED SUPPORTS FROM THE WORKFORCE CARE MANAGEMENT TEAM. IN THE FIRST AND FINAL YEARS, THE PROGRAM WILL SERVE 60 CLIENTS ANNUALLY; IN YEARS TWO AND THROUGH FOUR, 90 CLIENTS ANNUALLY WILL HAVE ACCESS TO THE PROGRAM. IN ADDITION, 125 UNIQUE EMPLOYERS WILL ACTIVELY COLLABORATE WITH THE PROGRAM TO HELP INDIVIDUALS IN RECOVERY OBTAIN SELF-SUSTAINING EMPLOYMENT. BY THE END OF THE FIVE-YEAR GRANT PERIOD, AT LEAST 50 EMPLOYERS WILL RECEIVE EDUCATION AND PARTICIPATE IN ROUND TABLE DISCUSSIONS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF HIRING INDIVIDUALS IN RECOVERY.

COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH: RESEARCH INFRASTRUCTURE: MORPHOCLOUD: A CLOUD POWERED, OPEN-SOURCE PLATFORM FOR RESEARCH, TEACHING AND COLLABORATION IN 3D DIGITAL MORPHOLOGY AND BEYOND -QUANTITATIVE STUDY OF MORPHOLOGY IS CENTRAL TO MANY FIELDS WITHIN THE BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES, AS ANATOMICAL SYSTEMS HOLD IMPORTANT CLUES ON HOW ORGANISM MOVE, FEED, REPRODUCE AND INTERACT WITH THE ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH THEY LIVE IN. THROUGH THESE STUDIES, BIOLOGISTS CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT CHANGES HAVE HAPPENED THROUGH TIME; GET A GOOD GLIMPSE OF THE VARIABILITY WITHIN A SPECIES, AND EVEN PREDICT WHETHER THEY ARE LIKELY TO SURVIVE WITH GLOBAL ENVIRONMENTAL CHALLENGES. MORPHOLOGICAL DATA IS BEST ACQUIRED USING 3D IMAGING TECHNOLOGIES. THESE TECHNOLOGIES CAN RANGE FROM SURFACE SCANNERS TO HIGH-RESOLUTION 3D MICROSCOPES THAT USE UV OR X-RAY TO COLLECT DATA. BIOLOGISTS THEN PROCESS AND VISUALIZE THESE DATASETS IN COMPUTERS TO EITHER COLLECT DATA FOR RESEARCH OR USE THEM AS VISUAL AIDS IN THE CLASSROOM. HOWEVER, SOME OF THESE IMAGING MODALITIES PRODUCES DATASETS THAT ARE MUCH LARGER THAN TYPICAL PERSONAL COMPUTERS CAN HANDLE; OR MAY REQUIRE SPECIALIZED SOFTWARE THAT MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE DUE TO LICENSING OR COST ISSUES. BOTH CAN HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO CREATE SHARING AND USAGE OBSTACLES FOR PUBLICLY FUNDED DATA, IMPEDING TEACHING, SCIENTIFIC EXPLORATION AND COLLABORATION. THIS PROJECT PROVIDES EQUITABLE AND CONVENIENT ACCESS TO PUBLICLY FUNDED CYBERINFRASTRUCTURE (JETSTREAM2) AND DATA RESOURCES (MORPHOSOURCE) FOR BIOLOGISTS, WHO OTHERWISE MAY NOT BENEFIT FROM THEIR AVAILABILITY; EITHER BECAUSE THEY LACK THE COMPUTATIONAL RESOURCES OR THE TECHNICAL EXPERTISE TO USE THEM. THE PROJECT TEAM WILL ALSO TRAIN HUNDREDS OF EARLY CAREER SCIENTISTS, WHOSE RESEARCH AND TEACHING WILL BENEFIT FROM THE EASY MANIPULATION AND USE OF DIGITAL BIOLOGICAL SPECIMENS. ADDITIONALLY, BOOTCAMP OPPORTUNITIES WILL TRANSFORM MOTIVATED GRAD STUDENTS AND POST-DOCS INTO FUTURE INVENTORS OF NEW ANALYTICAL TOOLS AND FUNCTIONALITIES, WHICH WILL GROW THE COMMUNITY OF MORPHOLOGISTS WORKING IN DIGITAL ENVIRONMENTS. MORPHOCLOUD WILL MAKE WORKING WITH DIGITAL BIOLOGICAL SPECIMEN DATA AS ROUTINE AS WORKING WITH GENOMICS DATA, SO THAT BIOLOGISTS CAN FOCUS ON THEIR SCIENTIFIC QUESTIONS RATHER THAN GET BOGGED DOWN WITH COMPLEX WORKFLOWS, TECHNICALITIES, AND LIMITED RESOURCES. PROPOSED CLOUD SERVICES AND ANALYTICAL TOOLS WILL ALSO MAKE WIDER-SCALE, MULTI-LAB COLLABORATIONS FRICTION-FREE, VIA DERIVED DATA EXCHANGE OF 3D PHENOTYPES. THIS AWARD REFLECTS NSF'S STATUTORY MISSION AND HAS BEEN DEEMED WORTHY OF SUPPORT THROUGH EVALUATION USING THE FOUNDATION'S INTELLECTUAL MERIT AND BROADER IMPACTS REVIEW CRITERIA.- SUBAWARDS ARE NOT PLANNED FOR THIS AWARD.

COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH: CUE-T: BROADENING PARTICIPATION IN COMPUTING VIA ACTIVE LEARNING STRATEGIES IN MULTI-INSTITUTION ONLINE SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS -DUE TO THE COVID PANDEMIC, MOST U.S. INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION (IHES) TRANSITIONED IN-PERSON CLASSES TO ONLINE CLASSES. SUCH A TRANSITION PROVIDES FERTILE GROUND FOR RESEARCH INTO IMPROVING UNDERGRADUATE STEM EDUCATION IN COMPUTING FIELDS, SPECIFICALLY IN BROADENING PARTICIPATION FOR UNDERREPRESENTED STUDENTS AND IMPROVING LEARNING OUTCOMES. THERE ARE ONGOING CHALLENGES IN ATTRACTING AND RETAINING MARGINALIZED STUDENTS TO COMPUTING, SPECIFICALLY WOMEN FROM ALL RACES AND ETHNICITIES AND BLACK AND HISPANIC MALES. THIS PROJECT INTENDS TO EXPLORE THE IMPACT OF COMBINING INCLUSIVE AND EQUITABLE ACTIVE LEARNING APPROACHES IN COMPUTING COURSES IN ONLINE SYNCHRONOUS LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS (OSLES) ACROSS MULTIPLE INSTITUTIONS WITH A LEARNING ASSISTANT MODEL. THE PROPOSED APPROACH HAS THE POTENTIAL TO IMPROVE STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES AND RETENTION RATES IN COMPUTING. THIS PROJECT'S PRIMARY GOAL IS TO EXPLORE THE IMPACT OF INTEGRATING INCLUSIVE AND EQUITABLE ACTIVE LEARNING APPROACHES IN COMPUTING OSLES AND SHARING RESOURCES ACROSS MULTIPLE INSTITUTIONS ON STUDENTS' LEARNING OUTCOMES, ENGAGEMENT, AND RETENTION. THE PROJECT TEAM PLANS TO USE A MIXED-METHODS EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN TO INVESTIGATE FOUR RESEARCH QUESTIONS FOCUSING ON CONDUCTING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, USING ACTIVE LEARNING APPROACHES ON STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES AND RETENTION RATES, SHARING COURSES ACROSS INSTITUTIONS, AND BROADENING PARTICIPATION IN COMPUTING. THIS PROJECT WILL BE CONDUCTED AT SIX INSTITUTIONS, INCLUDING TWO HISPANIC SERVING INSTITUTIONS, TWO HISTORICALLY BLACK UNIVERSITIES, AND TWO SMALL UNIVERSITIES. THIS PROPOSED PROJECT HAS THE POTENTIAL TO SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACT EQUITY IN COMPUTING IN BOTH ACADEMIA AND INDUSTRY. THE UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN- PARKSIDE IS COMMITTED TO HIGH-QUALITY EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, CREATIVE AND SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES, AND SERVICES RESPONSIVE TO ITS DIVERSE STUDENT POPULATION, AND ITS LOCAL, NATIONAL AND GLOBAL COMMUNITIES. THE PROPOSED SECOND YEAR OF THIS VISTA PROJECT IS RESPONSIVE TO UW-PARKSIDE'S LOCAL COMMUNITY AND ALIGNS WITH CNCS FOCUS AREAS OF EDUCATION AND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY. THE VISTA PROJECT WILL SEEK TO CONTRIBUTE TO BUILDING AN EDUCATED WORKFORCE IN RACINE COUNTY FROM CAREER TO CRADLE, AND EXPECTS TO BENEFIT AT LEAST EIGHT ORGANIZATIONS WORKING COLLECTIVELY ALONG THE CONTINUUM TO REACH THIS GOAL. OF THE TEN VISTAS (WHICH INCLUDES ONE VISTA LEADER) PROPOSED IN THIS APPLICATION, WE EXPECT THREE TO BE COST SHARE, AND SEVEN TO BE STANDARD. OVER THE COURSE OF THE NEXT TWO YEARS, AT LEAST FIFTEEN VISTA MEMBERS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THIS PROJECT BY PERFORMING SUCH CAPACITY BUILDING ACTIVITIES AS BEST PRACTICE RESEARCH, DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS, CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT, PROGRAM RECRUITMENT AND OUTREACH, CREATION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF COMMUNICATIONS STRATEGIES, PLANNING AND LAUNCHING NEW PROGRAMS, GRANT WRITING AND IMPLEMENTING OTHER SUSTAINABILITY MEASURES. THESE ACTIVITIES WILL ADDRESS THE NEEDS AND BUILD ON THE ASSETS OF LOW-INCOME PRE-SCHOOL, ELEMENTARY, MIDDLE SCHOOL AND POST-SECONDARY STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES AS WELL AS VETERANS, PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND OTHER LOW INCOME ADULTS SEEKING EMPLOYMENT.
