MORE THAN WORDS IS A NONPROFIT SOCIAL ENTERPRISE THAT EMPOWERS YOUTH WHO ARE IN THE FOSTER CARE SYSTEM, COURT SYSTEM, HOMELESS, OR OUT OF SCHOOL TO TAKE CHARGE OF THEIR LIVES BY TAKING CHARGE OF A BUSINESS. THE PROPOSED VISTA PROJECT ALIGNS WITH THE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY FOCUS AREA, AND ALSO SUPPORTS GOALS AND OUTCOMES RELATED TO THE EDUCATION FOCUS AREA. THE VISTA PROJECT WILL SUPPORT CAPACITY BUILDING AT MORE THAN WORDS AS WE PURSUE A GAME-CHANGING EXPANSION THAT WILL ENABLE US TO SERVE 60% MORE DISCONNECTED AND SYSTEM-INVOLVED YOUTH EACH YEAR, GROWING FROM 250 CURRENTLY TO 400 BY 2020. THE INNOVATIVE DRIVE OF 6 VISTA MEMBERS IN YEAR 1 WILL BUILD CAPACITY, CREATE AND PILOT NEW SYSTEMS, AND FORM NEW PARTNERSHIPS IN AREAS SUCH AS YOUTH RECRUITMENT, FUNDRAISING, VOLUNTEER ENGAGEMENT, BOOK SOURCING, EVALUATION, AND NEW SOCIAL ENTERPRISES TO HELP US ACHIEVE THIS NEXT LEVEL OF IMPACT. ADDITIONAL MEMBERS MAY CONTRIBUTE IN NEW WAYS OR BY CONTINUING THESE DEVELOPMENTS IN FUTURE YEARS OVER THE COURSE OF THE 3-YEAR PROJECT.
