THE PROJECT WILL DEVELOP A SERIES OF MICRO-DOCUMENTARIES WHICH SHARE COMMUNITY MEMBERS' STORIES OF BEING IMPACTED BY FLOODS, AND A COMPANION SERIES OF SOLUTION-ORIENTED MULTIMEDIA MATERIALS OUTLINING INDIVIDUAL AND COLLECTIVE WAYS FOR PEOPLE TO BE BETTER PREPARED. THE MATERIALS WILL BE BROADLY DISSEMINATED BY PARTNERS THROUGH SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORKS, WEBSITES, E-NEWSLETTERS, AND COMMUNITY EVENTS. WHILE THIS PROJECT PRIMARILY FOCUSES ON FLOODING, A SECONDARY BENEFIT WILL FOCUS ON THE IMPORTANCE OF PROTECTING RESIDENTS DRINKING WATER SUPPLY BY IMPROVING THE ABILITY OF PROJECT PARTNERS TO ENGAGE COMMUNITY MEMBERS IN COMPLEMENTARY DRINKING WATER PROTECTION PROGRAMS SUCH AS WATERSHED CLEAN UPS, HAZARDOUS WASTE REDUCTION EFFORTS, SUPPORTING LOCAL GSI INITIATIVES, AND MORE. IN ADDITION, HANDWASHING IS A WELL-ACCEPTED APPROACH TO COMBATING THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 AND CLEAN WATER IS NECESSARY FOR THE PROPER WASHING OF HANDS. SDWA 1442 GRANT PROJECTS CONTRIBUTE TO PROVIDING CLEAN WATER FOR HANDWASHING IN COMBATTING THE SPREAD OF COVID-19. ACTIVITIES: FLOOD READY GERMANTOWN IS A MULTI-PRONGED CAMPAIGN THAT INTEGRATES PERSONAL STORYTELLING AND SOLUTION-BASED INFORMATION WITH DIRECT OUTREACH AND SOCIAL MEDIA ENGAGEMENT TO BUILD AWARENESS OF THE CAUSES AND IMPACTS OF FLOODING IN GERMANTOWN AND PROVIDE RESIDENTS WITH THE KNOWLEDGE THEY NEED TO ADAPT AND BE BETTER PREPARED. GREENTREKS WILL IMPLEMENT KEY ACTIVITIES TO CREATE THE CAMPAIGN WHICH INCLUDE: DISCOVERY AND CREATIVE VISIONING: WORKING IN TANDEM WITH PROJECT PARTNERS AND THE COMMUNITY, GREENTREKS WILL DEVELOP A SHARED VISION, DEFINE KEY MESSAGES, AND ENSURE MEANINGFUL COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND DISSEMINATION OF MESSAGES AND MATERIALS, HOLDING INITIAL STAKEHOLDER MEETINGS TO INSURE CONTINUED PARTICIPATION IN THE PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION PROCESS; PRODUCTION AND POST-PRODUCTION: GREENTREKS PLANS A SERIES OF 5 MICRO-DOCUMENTARIES THAT WILL DEPICT THE PERSONAL FLOOD-RELATED EXPERIENCES OF COMMUNITY MEMBERS THAT WILL HELP OTHERS SIMILARLY SITUATED TO UNDERSTAND THE ISSUES AND THEIR PERSONAL RISK, TO TAKE ACTION, AND TO KNOW WHERE THEY CAN TURN FOR HELP.
