THE CONNECTICUT YANKEE COUNCIL, INC. BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA (THE COUNCIL) IS A NOT-FOR-PROFIT ORGANIZATION, INCORPORATED IN THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT, AND OPERATING UNDER THE CHARTER GRANTED BY THE BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA, NATIONAL COUNCIL. THE COUNCIL IS HEADQUARTERED IN MILFORD, CONNECTICUT, AND SERVES FAIRFIELD AND NEW HAVEN COUNTIES THROUGH THE DELIVERY OF A HIGH-QUALITY SCOUTING PROGRAM TO OVER 8,600 YOUTH AND 2,600 VOLUNTEER ADULTS. AS A LOCAL COUNCIL, IT IS THE ORGANIZATION'S MISSION TO SERVE OTHERS BY HELPING INSTILL VALUES IN YOUNG PEOPLE TO PREPARE THEM TO MAKE ETHICAL CHOICES AND ACHIEVE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL. THE COUNCIL OPERATES TWO CAMPING FACILITIES AND SUPPORTS OVER 160 COMMUNITY-BASED ORGANIZATIONS OPERATING OVER 284 LOCAL SCOUTING UNITS WITHIN THE COUNCIL'S GEOGRAPHICAL AREA.

THE MISSION OF THE INDIAN WATERS COUNCIL, BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA IS TO PREPARE YOUNG PEOPLE TO MAKE ETHICAL AND MORAL CHOICES OVER THEIR LIFETIMES BY INSTILLING IN THEM THE VALUES OF THE SCOUT OATH AND LAW. SCOUTING USES POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT ACTIVITIES TO ACHIEVE SCOUTING'S AIMS OF HELPING YOUTH BUILD CHARACTER, TRAIN IN THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF CITIZENSHIP, AND DEVELOP PERSONAL FITNESS. THE PROPOSED VISTA PROJECT ALIGNS WITH THE CNCS EDUCATION FOCUS AREA. THE VISTA PROJECT WILL SEEK TO BUILD CAPACITY TO CREATE AND SUSTAIN NEW POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS IN UNDERSERVED AREAS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA MIDLANDS, AND EXPECTS TO BENEFIT OVER 6,000 YOUTH AND THEIR FAMILIES. FOUR VISTA MEMBERS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT BY PERFORMING ACTIVITIES SUCH AS IDENTIFYING AND CULTIVATING NEW PARTNERS FOR PROGRAM DELIVERY, NEW DONORS TO SUPPORT EXPANDED PROGRAMS AND NEW STRATEGIES FOR RECRUITING NEW YOUTH AND VOLUNTEERS OVER THE COURSE OF THREE YEARS.
