COMMUNITY PROJECT FUNDING/CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING - CONSTRUCTION - THE UNIVERSITY OF SAINT JOSEPH WILL USE FUNDS FROM THE CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING PROGRAM TO IMPLEMENT AN INTERPROFESSIONAL HEALTH EDUCATION CENTER (IHEC) ON ITS CAMPUS IN WEST HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT, WHICH WILL SUPPORT INTERPROFESSIONAL TRAINING OF STUDENTS IN GRADUATE AND UNDERGRADUATE PHARMACY, PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT (PA), NURSING, NUTRITION, PUBLIC HEALTH, EXERCISE SCIENCE, SOCIAL WORK, AND COUNSELING/APPLIED BEHAVIORAL STUDIES PROGRAMS. CDS FUNDS WILL BE USED FOR: A) RENOVATIONS IN A MCDONOUGH HALL CLASSROOM TO CREATE AND FURNISH A CENTRAL COLLABORATION ROOM FOR INTERPROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES; B) HVAC UPGRADES IN THE MCDONOUGH NUTRITION LAB TO FACILITATE INCREASED USE OF THIS SPACE FOR IHEC ACTIVITIES; C) RENOVATIONS IN MCDONOUGH AND LOURDES HALL FOR INSTALLATION OF IT EQUIPMENT FOR LINKED LIVESTREAMING ACROSS CAMPUS; D) RENOVATIONS TO SPACE IN THE WELLNESS BUILDING TO CREATE AND OUTFIT AN EXERCISE SCIENCE LAB; AND E) PURCHASE OF NURSING SIMULATION MANIKINS FOR INSTALLATION IN THE NURSING EDUCATION AND SIMULATION CENTER. ALL AFFECTED SPACES ARE KEY COMPONENTS OF THE IHEC AND WILL BE USED FOR INTERDISCIPLINARY TRAINING ACTIVITIES.
