AN ESTIMATED 289 RSVP VOLUNTEERS WILL SERVE IN THE HARRISON, CARROLL AND TUSCARAWAS COUNTY AREA. OF THIS NUMBER, A MINIMUM OF 67 VOLUNTEERS WILL BE PLACED IN OUTCOME ASSIGNMENTS. SOME OF THEIR SERVICE ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE ASSISTING AT LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES, CONGREGATE MEAL SITES, AND DELIVERING MEALS TO HOME BOUND ADULT SENIORS AND INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES. THE PRIMARY FOCUS AREA OF THIS PROJECT IS HEALTHY FUTURES. AT THE END OF THE THREE-YEAR GRANT, APPROXIMATELY 300 FOOD PANTRY CLIENTS WILL REPORT HAVING INCREASED FOOD SECURITY; 170 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING HOME DELIVERED OR CONGREGATE MEALS WILL REPORT INCREASED FOOD SECURITY AND IMPROVED CAPACITY FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING; 85 INDIVIDUALS RECEIVING SUBSTANCE ABUSE EDUCATION WILL REPORT INCREASED HEALTH KNOWLEDGE; A MINIMUM OF 10 CHILDREN WILL SERVED BY RSVP VOLUNTEERS WITH A MINIMUM OF 7 OF THOSE 10 CHILDREN DEMONSTRATING GAINS IN SCHOOL READINESS; AND A MINIMUM OF 2 VOLUNTEERS WILL CONDUCT AT LEAST 1 "MATTER OF BALANCE" CLASS PER YEAR WITH A MINIMUM OF 6 PARTICIPANTS AND AT LEAST 4 OF THOSE INDIVIDUALS COMPLETING THE COURSE AND DEMONSTRATING AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE PURPOSE OF THE CLASSES. THE CNCS FEDERAL INVESTMENT OF $66,777.00 OVER THE NEXT THREE YEARS, WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED BY $37,918.00 FROM THE UNITED WAY OF TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF AGING AND OTHER IN-KIND DOLLARS.
