DOCUMENTATION OF THE QUALIFICATION IS INCLUDED AS ATTACHMENT 12. GU SERVES A DIVERSE STUDENT POPULATION; 67% ARE FIRST-GENERATION, 50% ARE STUDENTS OF COLOR, 82% ARE FEMALE, AND 94% RECEIVE SOME FORM OF FINANCIAL AID. THE PROJECT DIRECTOR, WHO IS THE BSPH PROGRAM DIRECTOR, AND THE CO-DIRECTOR, WHO IS THE DEAN OF THE SCHOOL OF NURSING AND HEALTH PROFESSIONS, WILL OVERSEE THE ACTIVITIES OUTLINED BELOW. PROGRAM IMPROVEMENTS: THE PROGRAM WILL BE UPDATED TO EXPLICITLY ALIGN WITH PRINCIPALS OF SOCIAL DETERMINANTS OF HEALTH AND CULTURALLY AND LINGUISTICALLY APPROPRIATE SERVICES. TWO NEW COURSES WILL BE DEVELOPED: SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL ASPECTS OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND ISSUES OF DIVERSITY AND EQUITY IN PUBLIC HEALTH. AN EXPERT CONSULTANT IN THE FIELD OF HEALTH INFORMATICS WILL BE ENGAGED TO DEVELOP OF A NEW TRACK WITHIN THE BS IN PUBLIC HEALTH PROGRAM. THE PROJECT WILL ALSO DEVELOP A 4+1 TRACK FOR BSPH STUDENTS TO EFFICIENTLY AND COST-EFFECTIVELY ATTAIN THEIR MPH. A COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS LIAISON (TBH) WILL CONDUCT OUTREACH TO PARTNERS TO EXPAND PRACTICUM SITES AND EMPLOYMENT PLACEMENTS FOR STUDENTS. A DATA ADMINISTRATOR (TBH) WILL DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN A TRACKING SYSTEM FOR RECORDING STUDENT OUTCOMES INCLUDING PRACTICUM PLACEMENTS AND EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES. SCHOLARSHIPS AND STUDENT SUPPORTS: THE PROPOSED SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM WILL A WARD $10,000 SCHOLARSHIPS TO APPROXIMATELY 45 STUDENTS PER YEAR IN GU’S BSPH PROGRAM FOR EACH OF THE 3 YEARS. THREE FULL SEMESTERS ARE OFFERED EACH YEAR, AS WELL AS FLEXIBLE ONLINE COURSES, TO ALLOW STUDENTS TO FINISH AT AN ACCELERATED PACE. THE PROJECT TEAM WILL UTILIZE SOCIAL MARKETING AND NETWORKING STRATEGIES TO RECRUIT STUDENTS OF COLOR AND FIRST-GENERATION COLLEGE STUDENTS INTO THE BSPH PROGRAM. PROJECT TITLE: COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT FOR CO-LOCATED SPACE WITH THE UNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL SURVEYPERIOD OF PERFORMANCE: 6 1 2023 THROUGH 5 31 2028AWARD PURPOSE: COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT TO PROVIDE USE OF SPACE TO THE U.S. GEOLOGICAL SURVEY (USGS).ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED: THE RECIPIENT SHALL PROVIDE SPACE TO THE USGS IN A VACANT MOVE IN CONDITION, READY FOR USGSS OCCUPANCY, NOT INCLUDING USGSS FURNITURE, FIXTURES AND EQUIPMENT. DELIVERABLES AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES: THE UNIVERSITY WILL MAINTAIN THE PROPERTY AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MAINTENANCE, REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF ALL UNIVERSITY PROVIDED UTILITIES, STRUCTURES AND IMPROVEMENTS TO OR EXISTING UPON THE PROPERTY, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO: THE ROOF, PARKING LOT, STRUCTURE, EXTERIOR BUILDING SURFACES, WATER SYSTEM, ELECTRICAL SERVICE AND SIMILAR IMPROVEMENTS AND EQUIPMENT. THE RECIPIENT WILL PROVIDE FOR OPERATING COSTS RELATED TO USGSS SPACE: JANITORIAL SERVICES, WASTE REMOVAL DISPOSAL, PROPERTY INSURANCE, PROPERTY TAXES, AND ANY SIMILAR COSTS RELATED TO THE OCCUPANCY OF THE PREMISES. THE RECIPIENT SHALL PROVIDE FOR INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS INCLUDING HVAC, PLUMBING, ELECTRICAL OR OTHER EQUIPMENT WHICH SOLELY SERVICES THE SPACE MAJOR REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE ROOF, AND PARKING LOT OR STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS COMPRISING THE PREMISES.INTENDED BENEFICIARIES: THE CITIZENS OF FLORIDA THROUGH WORK DONE BY THE USGS RECIPIENT DUE TO CO-LOCATED SPACE.

THE PROGRAM PROVIDES A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY FOR INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION TO ESTABLISH MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACHES TO COMBAT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, DATING VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND STALKING ON CAMPUSES. THESE COMPREHENSIVE EFFORTS ARE DESIGNED TO ENHANCE VICTIM SERVICES (INCLUDING LEGAL SERVICES), IMPLEMENT PREVENTION AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS, AND DEVELOP AND STRENGTHEN SECURITY AND INVESTIGATION STRATEGIES TO PREVENT, PROSECUTE, AND RESPOND TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, DATING VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND STALKING. THE CAMPUS PROGRAM SUPPORTS ACTIVITIES THAT DEVELOP CAMPUS-BASED COORDINATED RESPONSES AMONG CAMPUS VICTIM SERVICES, CAMPUS LAW ENFORCEMENT, HEALTH CARE PROVIDERS, HOUSING OFFICIALS, ADMINISTRATORS, STUDENT LEADERS, FAITH-BASED ORGANIZATIONS, STUDENT ORGANIZATIONS, AND DISCIPLINARY BOARDS, ENHANCE VICTIM SAFETY AND THE PROVISION OF ASSISTANCE, AND HOLD OFFENDERS ACCOUNTABLE. TO BE EFFECTIVE, THESE RESPONSES MUST BE LINKED TO LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, PROSECUTORS OFFICES, COURTS, AND NONPROFIT, NONGOVERNMENTAL VICTIM ADVOCACY AND VICTIM SERVICES ORGANIZATIONS. GOODWIN UNIVERSITY IS A PRIVATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE LOCATED IN EAST HARTFORD, CT. WITH THIS NEW AWARD, GOODWIN UNIVERSITY, IN COLLABORATION WITH INTERVAL HOUSE, YWCA NEW BRITAIN, AND THE TOWN OF EAST HARTFORD POLICE DEPARTMENT, WILL: 1) CREATE A COORDINATED COMMUNITY RESPONSE TEAM TO OVERSEE ALL PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION ACTIVITIES; 2) PROVIDE PREVENTION PROGRAMMING, INCLUDING BYSTANDER INTERVENTION AND ONGOING PREVENTION ACTIVITIES TO ALL STUDENTS ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, DATING VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, AND STALKING; 3) PROVIDE ONGOING TRAINING TO ALL CAMPUS LAW ENFORCEMENT ON HOW TO EFFECTIVELY RESPOND TO THESE CRIMES; 4) PROVIDE ACCESS TO 24-HOUR CONFIDENTIAL VICTIM SERVICES AND ADVOCACY; AND 5) CONDUCT ONGOING TRAINING TO ALL PERSONNEL IN THE CAMPUS RESOLUTION PROCESS.
