SAP 2.0 WILL PROVIDE AT-RISK POPULATIONS WITH THE SKILLS AND TRAINING TO COPE WITH AN UNPRECEDENTED MENTAL HEALTH AND FENTANYL CRISIS. LICADD IS PERFECTLY POSITIONED TO ACCOMPLISH THESE GOALS AS THE AGENCY HAS WORKED IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE FOLLOWING SCHOOL DISTRICTS IN THE 4TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT: BELLMORE-MERRICK, CARLE PLACE UNION FREE, EAST ROCKAWAY UNION FREE, EAST WILLISTON UNION FREE, FREEPORT UNION FREE, HERRICKS UNION FREE, HEWLETT-WOODMERE UNION FREE, OCEANSIDE UNION FREE AND UNIONDALE UNION FREE. LICADD IS THE EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM FOR EAST ROCKAWAY UNION FREE SCHOOL DISTRICT. LICADD MAINTAINS AN IMPECCABLE REPUTATION AND IS THE COMMUNITY GO-TO AGENCY FOR SCHOOL-BASED PROFESSIONALS, PARENTS AND STUDENTS IN THE FIGHT AGAINST THE OPIOID CRISIS. THE CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION REPORTED THAT OVERDOSE DEATHS EXCEEDED A RECORD 107,000 IN 2021. ACCORDING TO A RECENT REPORT RELEASED BY NEW YORK STATE, DRUG OVERDOSE FATALITIES INCREASED BY 68% TO NEARLY 5,000 INDIVIDUALS FROM 2019-2021. THE SHARE OF DRUG OVERDOSE DEATHS IN NEW YORK STATE INVOLVING OPIOIDS INCREASED 85% IN BOTH 2020 AND 2021 FROM 69% IN 2010. LICADD’S SAP 2.0 IS A COMPREHENSIVE APPROACH THAT DELIVERS EVIDENCE-BASED HEALTH EDUCATION, COUNSELING, AND SUPPORT SERVICES TO SCHOOL-BASED PROFESSIONALS, PARENTS, AND STUDENTS. THIS HYBRID PSYCHOEDUCATION TRAINING BUILDS HEALTHY COPING STRATEGIES, RESILIENCY SKILLS, AND STRESS MANAGEMENT PRACTICES. THE GOAL OF THIS PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE AT-RISK ADOLESCENTS WITH THE TOOLS TO MAKE HEALTHIER CHOICES SURROUNDING SUBSTANCE USE AND TO GAIN THE RESILIENCY AND EFFECTIVE COPING STRATEGIES TO OVERCOME THE ONGOING CHALLENGES OF STRESS, ANXIETY, FEAR, GRIEF, AND LOSS WHICH ARE THE KNOWN PRECURSORS TO SUBSTANCE USE.
