THE THREE-TIERED, SEQUENTIAL, PAID INTERNSHIP PROGRAM WILL INCLUDE A SIX-MONTH SCHOOL-YEAR PROGRAM (TIER 1), A TWO-MONTH SUMMER PROGRAM (TIER 2) AND A NINE-MONTH PEER-LEADERSHIP PROGRAM (TIER 3). STUDENTS WILL LEARN ABOUT CAREERS IN THE LIBRARY PROFESSION THROUGH WORK EXPERIENCES, EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS, AND CAREER EXPLORATION THAT PROMOTES THE MANY FACETS OF LIBRARIANSHIP FROM PUBLIC SERVICE TO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY TO STRATEGIC PLANNING. BPL STAFF WILL SERVE AS MENTORS TO THE STUDENTS AND WILL ALSO PROVIDE TRAININGS ON FINANCIAL LITERACY, COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS, AND LIFE SKILLS.

OVER THE PROJECT PERIOD, BPL WILL PROVIDE STAFF MEMBERS WITH MLIS SCHOLARSHIPS AND CREATE A ROBUST SET OF PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT TOOLS.
