THIS ACTION APPROVES AN AWARD IN THE AMOUNT OF $25,000 TO UNITED AGAINST POVERTY TO HELP PILOT A PROGRAM TO CONNECT LOCAL FARMERS/GLEANERS WITH UNITED AGAINST POVERTYS MOBILE MARKET PROGRAM. UNITED AGAINST POVERTY WILL DEMONSTRATE PRODUCE CAN BE RESCUED FROM FIELDS, TRANSPORTED EFFICIENTLY, AND DELIVERED IN A SUSTAINABLE WAY. THE PILOT PROGRAM ACTIVITIES WILL HELP PROVIDE SURPLUS PRODUCE TO COMMUNITIES IN GREAT NEED, PROVIDE AN ALTERNATIVE TO FOOD WASTE AT THE FARM LEVEL, AND CREATE A SUSTAINABLE FOOD ACCESS POINT THAT CAN BE REPLICATED WITH RELIABLE FREQUENCY.
