| Department of Health and Human Services | COMMUNITY PROJECT FUNDING/CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING - CONSTRUCTION - HEALTHWORKS IS PRESENTLY CONFRONTED WITH A SUBSTANTIAL BACKLOG OF PATIENTS IN NEED OF ULTRASOUND AND MAMMOGRAM SERVICES. MANY PATIENTS ENCOUNTER IMPEDIMENTS WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ACCESS RADIOLOGY SERVICES AND ARE FREQUENTLY DENIED BY OTHER HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS DUE TO INADEQUATE INSURANCE COVERAGE. THIS UNDERSCORES THE CRITICAL NECESSITY TO EXPAND OUR SERVICES TO OFFER IN-HOUSE ULTRASOUNDS AND MAMMOGRAMS FOR OUR PATIENTS. HEALTHWORKS HAS FACILITATED OVER 60,000 PATIENT VISITS, SOME OF WHICH NECESSITATED A MAMMOGRAM OR ULTRASOUND PRIOR TO THEIR SUBSEQUENT APPOINTMENT FOR FURTHER CARE. A MAMMOGRAM IS A PIVOTAL TOOL FOR THE EARLY DETECTION OF BREAST CANCER, ENABLING MORE ACCESSIBLE TREATMENT BEFORE THE DISEASE PROGRESSES. SIMILARLY, ULTRASOUND, ALSO KNOWN AS SONOGRAPHY, PROVIDES INDISPENSABLE INFORMATION FOR DIAGNOSING AND TREATING VARIOUS DISEASES AND CONDITIONS THROUGH SOUND WAVE-GENERATED INTERNAL IMAGES. OUR STEADFAST COMMITMENT TO DELIVERING COMPREHENSIVE HEALTHCARE TO PATIENTS OF ALL AGES, IN-PERSON AND THROUGH TELEHEALTH VISITS, UNDERSCORES THE SIGNIFICANCE OF OFFERING RADIOLOGY SERVICES TO CONTRIBUTE TO POSITIVE PATIENT OUTCOMES. OUR EXPANSION TO ENCOMPASS IN-HOUSE ULTRASOUNDS AND MAMMOGRAMS AIMS TO SIGNIFICANTLY DIMINISH DIAGNOSTIC DELAYS, PROVIDE REAL-TIME DYNAMIC IMAGES, AND NOTABLY ENHANCE CANCER SURVIVAL RATES THROUGH EARLY DIAGNOSIS. HEALTHWORKS FOR NORTHERN VIRGINIA FURNISHES PRIMARY MEDICAL, DENTAL, AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES TO INDIVIDUALS OF ALL AGES WITH LOW INCOMES IN LOUDOUN AND FAIRFAX COUNTIES, VIRGINIA. DESPITE THE GENERAL AFFLUENCE IN LOUDOUN COUNTY, SUBSTANTIAL POCKETS OF DEEP POVERTY AND DISADVANTAGE PERSIST. OUR ASPIRATION IS TO ADDRESS HEALTH INEQUITY BY PROACTIVELY ADDRESSING THESE CHALLENGES AND ENSURING PATIENTS HAVE THE MEANS TO ACCESS CARE AT HEALTHWORKS EFFICIENTLY. BY OFFERING THESE RADIOLOGY SERVICES IN-HOUSE AT AN AFFORDABLE RATE, WE CAN AVERT NEGATIVE HEALTH OUTCOMES AND BRIDGE A CRITICAL GAP IN CARE FOR MANY IN OUR COMMUNITY. | $359K | FY2024 | Sep 2024 – Sep 2027 |
