PROJECT TITLE: YOUTHBUILD NEWBURGHPROJECT SUMMARY: YOUTHBUILD NEWBURGH WILL SERVE 57 OUT OF SCHOOL, UNDERSERVED YOUTH AGES 16-24 FROM THE CITY OF NEWBURGH, NY. YOUTHBUILD NEWBURGH PROVIDES HSE PREPARATION AND COLLEGE READINESS IN AN ACADEMIC SETTING. THE CLASSES WILL BE TAUGHT IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH BY OUR TWO LICENSED EDUCATIONAL STAFF FROM SUNY ORANGE, WHO WILL FOCUS THEIR CURRICULUM TO INCLUDE THE CORE SUBJECTS NEEDED TO PASS THE TASC-HSE EXAM, MATH, READING, WRITING, SCIENCE AND SOCIAL STUDIES WHILE USING TECHNOLOGY, PROJECT-BASED LEARNING AND SERVICE LEARNING AS A WAY TO ENGAGE THE YOUTHBUILD MEMBERS. YOUTHBUILD NEWBURGH OFFERS CONSTRUCTION TRAINING. THIS TRAINING INCLUDES BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO THE OSHA 10 AND NCCER CURRICULUM. THE CONSTRUCTION COMPONENT INCLUDES HANDS-ON LEARNING WHILE BUILDING AFFORDABLE HOUSING FOR OUR PARTNER, ORANGE COUNTY HABITAT FOR HUMANITY,. ORANGE-ULSTER BOCES WILL OFFER HEALTHCARE PROFESSIONS TRAINING IN CERTIFIED CLINICAL MEDICAL ASSISTANT (CCMA) CERTIFICATE PROGRAM TO THROUGH OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH MONTEFIORE ST.
