JORDAN RIVER PRESERVE IS A FORMER GOLF COURSE CURRENTLY IN THE PROCESS OF BEING RESTORED TO A MORE NATURAL STATE WHICH INCLUDES A SALT MARSH, RIPARIAN ZONES, AND UPLAND TREE SHRUB LAYERS. PART OF THE RESTORATION INCLUDES REMOVING A LARGE BERM WHICH IMPOUNDS FRESH WATER AND PREVENTS THE NATURAL FLOW OF TIDAL WATERS FROM THE ADJACENT JORDAN RIVER. AFTER THE BERM IS REMOVED THROUGH A SEPARATE AGREEMENT, NATIVE PLANT PLANTINGS WILL BE USED TO ENHANCE THE QUALITY OF THE NEWLY AVAILABLE SALT MARSH ZONE, AS WELL AS THE EPHEMERAL AND PERENNIAL DRAINAGES TO THE COASTAL WETLAND. FUNDS MAY BE USED FOR THE PURCHASE OF NATIVE PLANTS, INVASIVE SPECIES REMOVAL, AND SIMILAR EXPENSES FOR THE BENEFIT OF VEGETATION RE-ESTABLISHMENT.
