IS A NONPROFIT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION WITH A MISSION TO STIMULATE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, HISTORIC PRESERVATION AND IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN SALEM CITY THROUGH ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND THE PRODUCTION OF AFFORDABLE HOUSING. THE PROPOSED VISTA PROJECT ALIGNS WITH THE FOCUS AREAS OF ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITY, HEALTHY FUTURES, INCLUDING OPIOID ADDICTION AND RECOVERY, EDUCATION, AND SUPPORTS THE CORE PRINCIPALS OF CNCS. THE VISTA PROJECT WILL SEEK TO INCREASE SCHOOL RETENTION AND RAISE GRADES, PROVIDE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT SERVICES FOR OPIOID ADDICTION, ADDRESS COMMUNITY HEALTH ISSUES, INCREASE FINANCIAL LITERACY AND HOMEOWNERSHIP AND PROVIDE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES TO THE 5,000 RESIDENTS IN THE RURAL TOWN OF SALEM CITY, NEW JERSEY. SEVEN VISTA MEMBERS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT BY PERFORMING ACTIVITIES SUCH AS LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT, YOUTH EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT, ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY BUILDING, BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT, ADDICTION PREVENTION, COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND FINANCIAL LITERACY OVER THE COURSE OF THE 3 YEAR PROJECT.
