SPANNING ALMOST 50 YEARS (1902-1951), THE CORRESPONDENCE CONTAINS DIALOGUES WITH MANY HISTORICAL FIGURES AND IS A RICH, CRITICAL RESOURCE WITH RELEVANCE FOR A BROAD RANGE OF HUMANISTIC DISCIPLINES. THE MUSEUM WILL ENSURE THE COLLECTION'S LONG-TERM PRESERVATION BY CREATING DIGITAL RECORDS OF THE COLLECTION AND THEN STORING THEM IN A NEW DIGITAL ASSET MANAGEMENT SYSTEM. THE PROJECT ALSO WILL ENHANCE PUBLIC ACCESS TO THE COLLECTION BY MAKING IT AVAILABLE TO SCHOLARS AND GENERAL AUDIENCES ON ITS WEBSITE IN A THOUGHTFUL AND EASILY NAVIGABLE WAY.

IN COLLABORATION WITH COMMUNITY PARTNER PUENTES DE SALUD AND THE SCHOOL DISTRICT OF PHILADELPHIA'S SOUTHWARK COMMUNITY SCHOOL, EARLY LEARNERS WILL CONNECT WITH ART AT THE BARNES AS A LAUNCHING POINT FOR GAINING BILITERACY SKILLS AND DEVELOPMENTAL READINESS FOR KINDERGARTEN. THIS ENGAGEMENT WILL INCLUDE WEEKLY ONLINE CLASSES LED BY BILINGUAL TEACHING ARTISTS, MONTHLY HOME DELIVERY OF BOOKS AND ART SUPPLY KITS FOR TEACHING UNITS, BI-MONTHLY RECORDED STORY TIMES, AND ROUTINE FAMILY CALLS TO SUPPORT AT-HOME LITERACY STRATEGIES.
