AS RATES OF AUTISM AND DEMENTIA INCREASE, THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE WHO MAY ELOPE FROM A SAFE LOCATION ALSO INCREASES. UNFORTUNATELY, CALIFORNIA DOES NOT HAVE A UNIFYING METHOD TO LOCATE, IDENTIFY, AND REUNITE ELOPERS WITH THEIR LOVED ONES. AS THE SOLE APPLICANT ON THIS REQUEST, GET SAFE WILL DEVELOP AND DELIVER A PERSON-CENTERED PREVENTION AND RECOVERY TRAINING PROGRAM FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT, EMERGENCY DISPATCHERS, CAREGIVERS AND SERVICE PROFESSIONALS, AND AT-RISK INDIVIDUALS. THIS WOULD CREATE THE FIRST STATEWIDE COORDINATED EFFORT AMONG THESE GROUPS TO REDUCE INSTANCES OF INJURY AND DEATH IN MISSING CALIFORNIANS WITH AUTISM OR DEMENTIA.
