DESCRIPTION:THIS AGREEMENT PROVIDES FUNDING FROM THE INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT AND JOBS ACT (IIJA). EPA'S CONSUMER RECYCLING EDUCATION AND OUTREACH (REO) GRANT PROGRAM WILL FUND A RANGE OF PROJECTS THAT WILL INCREASE WASTE PREVENTION ACTIVITIES, INCREASE THE COLLECTION OF RECYCLABLE MATERIALS AND PROGRAM PARTICIPATION RATES, AND DECREASE CONTAMINATION OF THE RECYCLING STREAM, FUND PROJECTS THAT FOCUS ON COMMONLY RECYCLED MATERIALS SUCH AS MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE (E.G., PLASTICS, ALUMINUM, PAPER, GLASS, ETC.), INCLUDING FOOD WASTE AND ORGANICS, AND/OR FUND PROJECTS AND PROVIDE TOOLS AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE THAT WILL LEAD TO LONG-TERM, SUSTAINED CHANGE, BENEFITS, AND SUPPORT BEYOND THE LIFE OF THE GRANT. THE PURPOSE OF THIS AWARD IS TO ENHANCE THE WEDONTWASTE, INC.'S (WDW'S) EFFORTS TO MEET THE REO GRANTS ELEMENTS. SPECIFICALLY, WDW WILL CREATE EDUCATION RESOURCES FOR SCHOOLS, CONSUMERS, AND BUSINESSES, ALONG WITH A SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN AND ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMMUNITY MEMBERS AND YOUTH. ALL ACTIVITIES WILL SUPPORT THE PREVENTION, REDUCTION, AND DIVERSION OF FOOD, ALONG WITH SUPPORTING RESPONSIBLE COMPOSTING AND RECYCLING. ACTIVITIES:WEDONTWASTE, INC. (WDW) WILL LAUNCH AND IMPLEMENT EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS FOCUSED ON FOOD WASTE, AND PROVIDE INFORMATION THROUGH PRESENTATIONS AND RESOURCES, SUCH AS HANDOUTS, AND A BOOK, FOR SCHOOL, CONSUMER, AND BUSINESS AUDIENCES. WDW WILL ALSO CONDUCT FOOD WASTE AUDITS, DISSEMINATE RESULTS, AND PROVIDE RECOMMENDATIONS ON HOW TO REDUCE FOOD WASTE TO SCHOOLS AND BUSINESSES. WDW WILL ALSO IMPLEMENT A SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN, ILLUSTRATE FOOD WASTE REDUCTION THROUGH RECIPES AND DEMONSTRATIONS, ORGANIZE AND HOST A SERIES OF COOKING CLASSES, AND DEVELOP AND RUN SUMMER CAMPS. THE OBJECTIVES OF THIS PROJECT ARE TO PROVIDE INFORMATION ABOUT THE COMMUNITY FOOD WASTE RECYCLING PROGRAM AND TO INCREASE COLLECTION RATES AND DECREASE CONTAMINATION IN THE FOOD WASTE STREAM. SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:WEDONTWASTE, INC. (WDW) WILL CREATE PRESENTATIONS FOR CORPORATE AND SCHOOL EDUCATION, AND HANDOUTS FOR YOUTH, BUSINESSES, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS. WDW WILL ALSO DEVELOP FOOD WASTE AUDIT CURRICULUMS AND TEMPLATES FOR FOOD WASTE AUDIT FINDINGS. WDW WILL DELIVER A SOCIAL MEDIA CAMPAIGN, A SET OF COOKING CLASSES, A SUMMER CAMP CURRICULUM AND TWO SUMMER CAMPS. OUTCOMES WILL INCLUDE INCREASED PARTICIPATION IN WDW'S PROGRAMMING AND HENCE, INCREASED FOOD WASTE REDUCTION AND RECYCLING; INCREASED TONS OF FOOD WASTE MANAGED IN THE COMMUNITY AND DECREASED GHG EMISSIONS FROM FOOD WASTE DISPOSAL IN THE COMMUNITY, AND DECREASED CONTAMINATION IN THE COMMUNITY FOOD WASTE STREAM. BENEFICIARIES WILL INCLUDE 10 LOCAL COMMUNITIES, INCLUDING SEVEN DISADVANTAGED ONES.
