DESCRIPTION:THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS FOR THE FOOD RESCUE US TO INCREASE THEIR EFFORTS IN BRIDGEPORT, CT SO THAT MORE PEOPLE CAN BENEFIT FROM THEIR FOOD RECOVERY PROGRAM. THIS PROGRAM IS DEDICATED TO ELIMINATING HUNGER AND FOOD WASTE BY PROVIDING UNUSED FOOD TO COMMUNITIES THAT NEED IT. UTILIZING THEIR WEB-BASED APP, FOOD DONORS WILL REGISTER AVAILABLE FOOD AND THEN SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES WILL EXPRESS THEIR NEEDS. THEN VOLUNTEER RESCUERS WILL SELF-SCHEDULE AND TRANSPORT THE FOOD USING THEIR OWN VEHICLES TO THE SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES. IN FAIRFIELD COUNTY, THIS PROGRAM HAS PROVIDED 32+ MILLION FRESH, HIGH-QUALITY MEALS TO THOSE IN NEED AND KEPT 43+ MILLION POUNDS OF FOOD WASTE OUT OF THE WASTE STREAM SINCE THE PROGRAM LAUNCHED IN 2011. THEREFORE, THEY HOPING TO CONTINUE THIS IMPACT AND INCREASE THEIR EFFORTS IN BRIDGEPORT, CT. ACTIVITIES:THE FUNDS WILL BE USED TO CONDUCTED OUTREACH TO LOCAL BUSINESSES SO THAT THE FOOD RESCUE US CAN PROVIDE MORE RESCUED FOOD TO 60 REGISTERED SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES THAT ARE LOCATED IN BRIDGEPORT, CT. TO ACHIEVE THIS EFFORT FOOD RESCUE INTENDS TO CONDUCT OUTREACH TO AT LEAST 15 FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS WITH TARGET GOAL OF RECRUITING 3 NEW FOOD DONORS FOR THEIR PROGRAM. FURTHERMORE, THEY INTEND TO RECRUIT 10 NEW VOLUNTEER FOOD RESCUERS TO HELP TRANSPORT FOOD ORDERS.SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:THE ANTICIPATED RESULTS AND DELIVERABLES FOR THIS PROJECT INCLUDE CONDUCTING TWO FOCUS GROUPS COMPRISED OF INDIVIDUALS THAT HAVE/DO RECEIVE FOOD THROUGH THE AGENCIES. ADDITIONALLY, CONDUCTING OUTREACH TO 15 BUSINESS, SCHOOLS, OR OTHER ESTABLISHMENTS TO REACH A TARGET OF AT LEAST 3 NEW FOOD DONORS. MOREOVER, THEY INTENDED TO RECRUIT 10 NEW VOLUNTEER FOOD RESCUERS IN BRIDGEPORT, TO HELP TRANSPORT THE FOOD. THESE EFFORTS ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE THE POUNDS OF EXCESS FOOD RECOVERED BY 5% AND RECOVER 8,740 LBS. OF EXCESS FOOD. WHILE ALSO, INCREASING THE POUNDS OF FOOD PROVIDED TO BRIDGEPORT AGENCIES BY 5% AND PROVIDE MORE THAN 803,432 LBS OF FOOD.
