EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: RELAY GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION (RELAY) PROPOSES TO HAVE 110 PROFESSIONAL CORPS MEMBERS FOR ITS INNOVATIVE TEACHER RESIDENCY PROGRAM, THE RELAY TEACHING RESIDENCY (RTR), WHO WILL TEACH IN K-12 HIGH-NEEDS CLASSROOMS IN COLORADO, CONNECTICUT, DELAWARE, GEORGIA, LOUISIANA, NEW YORK, AND PENNSYLVANIA. AT THE END OF THE FIRST PROGRAM YEAR, THE AMERICORPS MEMBERS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IMPROVING THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF THE 3,300 K-12 STUDENTS THEY TEACH, AND WILL BE PREPARED AND CERTIFIED TO SERVE AS FULL-TIME TEACHERS OF RECORD. THIS PROGRAM WILL FOCUS ON THE CNCS FOCUS AREA OF EDUCATION. THE CNCS INVESTMENT OF $0 WILL BE MATCHED WITH $0 IN PUBLIC FUNDING AND $1,050,000 IN PRIVATE FUNDING AS WELL AS TUITION REVENUES.
