THE ORGANIZATION PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE AND SOCIAL SERVICES TO LOW-INCOME AND UNDER PRIVILEGED FAMILIES AND CHILDREN IN EVANSVILLE, INDIANA AND THE VANDERBURGH, POSEY AND GIBSON COUNTY AREAS. THE MISSION OF THE COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM OF EVANSVILLE AND VANDERBURGH COUNTY, INC. IS ONE THAT ENCOMPASSES THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE. OUR AGENCY ADDRESSES THE CUSTOMER'S NEEDS IN A NON-JUDGMENTAL AND RESPECTFUL MANNER TO PROMOTE ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL SELF-SUFFICIENCY. THIS MISSION IS SUPPORTED BY EMPLOYEES COMMITTED TO ADDRESSING THE NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY WE SERVICE. OUR OBJECTIVE IS ACCOMPLISHED BY COLLABORATION WITH THE COMMUNITY TO PROVIDE TOOLS, SKILLS AND SERVICES THROUGH PROGRAMS THAT MEET INDIVIDUAL NEEDS.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY EXECUTIVE SUMMARY THE FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM HAS BEEN SPONSORED BY THE COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM OF EVANSVILLE (CAPE) FOR 42 YEARS. CAPE IS A PRIVATE NON-FOR-PROFIT, SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCY SERVING SEVERAL COUNTIES IN SOUTHWESTERN INDIANA. AS A MULTI-PROGRAM AGENCY, THE COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM OF EVANSVILLE ACTIVELY ADDRESSES THE NEEDS OF THE VULNERABLE, ECONOMICALLY-CHALLENGED IN THE COUNTIES OF POSEY, GIBSON, AND VANDERBURGH. ADDITIONALLY, THE FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM IS FUNDED TO INCLUDE THE COUNTY OF WARRICK, AND IS EXPANDED AS THE NEED HAS INCREASED. TO FACILITATE THE PROVISION OF SERVICES FOR PHYSICAL, SOCIAL, AND EMOTIONAL NEEDS IN THESE COUNTIES, THE COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM OF EVANSVILLE IS SEEKING STEWARDSHIP OF THE FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM FOR THE PERIOD OF JULY 1, 2018 THROUGH JUNE 30, 2019. THE CORPORATION FOR NATIONAL SERVICE FEDERAL GRANT INVESTMENT OF $167,874.00 WILL BE SUPPLEMENTED BY $21,383 NON-FEDERAL DOLLARS FROM CAPE. IT IS ESTIMATED THAT FORTY FIVE FOSTER GRANDPARENTS WILL SERVE IN THE PROGRAM, SERVING CHILDREN IN THE PRIMARY FOCUS AREA OF AGENCY WIDE PRIORITY MEASURE OUTCOME FOR K-12 SUCCESS AND SCHOOL READINESS. AT LEAST 80% OF THE FOSTER GRANDPARENTS WILL SERVE IN THE EDUCATION FOCUS AREA, K-12 SUCCESS. THESE VOLUNTEERS WILL PROVIDE TUTORING-PUBLIC SCHOOLS TO TEACHER SPECIFIED STUDENTS IN IMPROVED ACADEMIC ENGAGEMENT. THE FOSTER GRANDPARENTS WILL ALSO SERVE IN SCHOOL READINESS, ASSISTING IN CLASSROOM AND/OR HEAD START CLASSROOMS. THESE FOSTER GRANDPARENT VOLUNTEERS WILL PROVIDE GAINS IN SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT AS WELL AS LITERACY SKILLS. THESE FOSTER GRANDPARENT VOLUNTEERS WILL PROVIDE GAINS IN SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT AS WELL AS LITERACY SKILLS. NO MORE THAN 20% OF THE FOSTER GRANDPARENTS WILL SERVE IN THE EDUCATION FOCUS AREA OF SCHOOL READINESS, SERVING CHILDREN IN SAFETY, WELFARE, AND HEALTH PROGRAMS. THE PRIMARY FOCUS AREA OF THIS PROJECT ARE EDUCATION SUPPORTING K-12 SUCCESS (ED 2 & OUTCOME ED27) AND SCHOOL READINESS (ED 21 & OUTCOME ED 23,24). AT THE END OF THE THREE-YEAR GRANT CYCLE FIVE HUNDRED AND FORTY CHILDREN WITH 80% OF THE CHILDREN SERVED WILL SHOW ACADEMIC IMPROVEMENT.
