COMMUNITY PROJECT FUNDING/CONGRESSIONALLY DIRECTED SPENDING - CONSTRUCTION - THE DENTAL DEPARTMENT WILL INCREASE FACILITY SPACE AND CAPACITY WITH CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW DENTAL CLINIC TO PROVIDE COMPREHENSIVE DENTAL CARE FOR PERSONS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES THROUGH ITS SPECIAL PATIENT DENTAL CARE PROGRAM. THIS POPULATION FACES CHALLENGES IN ACCESSING ORAL HEALTH CARE. BY PROVIDING CULTURALLY SENSITIVE CARE FOR INDIVIDUALS ACROSS CHICAGOLAND, THE PROGRAM SERVES AS A DENTAL HOME STRESSING PREVENTION AND EDUCATION. THE PROGRAM IS THE PRIMARY PROVIDER OF COMPREHENSIVE ORAL HEALTH CARE FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS IN THE STATE OF ILLINOIS. THE NEW 16 OPERATORY DENTAL CLINIC WILL INCLUDE 2 DENTAL ANESTHESIA SUITES, 2 PROCEDURE ROOMS AND A 2-PATIENT RECOVERY SPACE. THIS WILL INCREASE OUR CAPACITY TO CARE FOR PATIENTS WITH SPECIAL AND/OR COMPLEX NEEDS REQUIRING ANESTHESIA, REDUCE WAIT TIMES, AND RESERVE THE OPERATING ROOM FOR ADVANCED CARE. THE FUNDS WILL SUPPORT CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW FACILITY AT 913 W WELLINGTON AVE, WHICH ALREADY HOUSES BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND THE PEDIATRIC DEVELOPMENTAL CENTER.
