NEWPORT SCHOOL DISTRICT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BLUUM AND VERKADAARE SEEKING FUNDING FOR NEWPORT SCHOOL PHYSICAL SECURITY PROJECTTO CAMERAS,ACCESS CONTROL, OPERATIONS CENTERNEWPORT SCHOOL DISTRICTDISTRICT IS LOCATED 45 MINUTES NORTHEAST OF LITTLE ROCK IN THE RURAL DELTA REGION OF THE STATESERVING A STUDENT POPULATION OF 1137. NEWPORT SCHOOL DISTRICTHAS EXPERIENCED SHOOTINGS NEAR THE SCHOOL IN RECENT YEARS, INCLUDING THEFT AND FIGHTS BOTH DURING SCHOOL AND AT SPORTING EVENTS. TO ASSIST IN THE SUCCESS OF THE PROJECT, VERKADA AND IK ELECTRICWILL HELP TO INSTALL ACCESS CONTROLS AND CAMERAS. THE GOAL OF THIS PROJECT IS TRY TO PROVIDE BETTER SECURITY WITH ADDITIONAL CAMERAS IN LOCATIONS THAT HAVE BEEN ISSUES BEFORE AND HELP WITH THE ABILITY TO LOCK DOWN BUILDINGS IN THE EVENT OF A SCHOOL SHOOTING OR OTHER UNFORSEEN EMERGENCY.THROUGH THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THIS PROJECT, OUR DISTRICT WILL WORK TO HELP OUR STUDENTS FILL SAFE AND PROTECTING AT SCHOOLAND IN DOING SO CREATE A BETTER ENVIRONMENT FOR LEARNING. WITH SVPP FUNDS, WE WILL CONTINUE TO WORK IN SECURING OUR BUILDINGS, NOT ONLY WITH ACCESS CONTROL, BUT INSTALL METAL DETECTORS IN CERTAIN LOCATIONS, WORK TO BRING THE OPERATIONS CENTER ONLINE, AND HOPEFULLY BE ABLE TO TRAIN CSSO.
