TO STREAMLINE THE HYDROGEN PERMITTING PROCESS SAFELY AND EFFICIENTLY, THIS PROJECT WILL CO-DEVELOP AND NATIONALLY DISSEMINATE NEEDED HYDROGEN RESOURCES FOR PERMITTING OFFICIALS. AS THE US IS RAPIDLY MOVING TOWARDS EXPANDING ITS HYDROGEN ECONOMY, WELL-INFORMED PERMITTING OFFICIALS ARE CRITICAL TO STREAMLINING PERMITTING, ENSURING THE SAFE DEPLOYMENT OF HYDROGEN TECHNOLOGIES, AND USHERING IN THE PROMISE OF HYDROGEN, PARTICULARLY IN DISADVANTAGED COMMUNITIES (DACS). CURRENTLY, MANY PERMITTING OFFICIALS ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH, AND THEREFORE STRUGGLE TO UNDERSTAND, HYDROGEN’S USE AS A FUEL OUTSIDE OF INDUSTRIAL SETTINGS.0F1 TO THIS END, WE WILL LEVERAGE ACCESS TO THE INTERNATIONAL CODE COUNCIL’S (ICC) MORE THAN 64,000 MEMBERS AND THE SAFETY EXPERTISE OF PACIFIC NORTHWEST NATIONAL LABORATORY’S (PNNL) HYDROGEN SAFETY PANEL (HSP) AND THE CENTER FOR HYDROGEN SAFETY (CHS) TO CO-DEVELOP AND JOINTLY DISSEMINATE INFORMATION RESOURCES THAT CAN ADDRESS THE EMERGING NEEDS OF PERMITTING OFFICIALS NATIONWIDE.
