NMLETG ALSO LOOKS TO HAVE THE MICHIGAN STATE POLICE (MSP) ASSIST THEM IN BRINGING THEIR QUALITY TRAINING PROGRAMS INTO THE REGION BY ESTABLISHING A MSP TRAINING OFFICE, IN PARTNERSHIP WITH NMLETG, TO SERVE THEIR DISTRICT 7 AND 8 TRAINING REQUIREMENTS. THE TRAINING INITIATIVE WILL EMPHASIZE THE BANNING OF CHOKEHOLDS, DE-ESCALATION, OFFICER'S DUTY TO REPORT EXCESSIVE USE OF FORCE, AND IMPLICIT BIAS. NMLETG DEVELOPED AN AFFORDABLE BUSINESS MODEL THAT PROVIDES THE FINANCIAL STABILITY NECESSARY FOR SUCCESS TO SUPPORT THESE NEAR AND LONG-TERM OBJECTIVES. A NMLETG PUBLIC SAFETY FACILITY IS ESSENTIAL, INCLUDING AREAS FOR PHYSICAL TRAINING, CLASSROOMS, DINING FACILITIES, INSTRUCTORS, ADMINISTRATIVE, BUSINESS OFFICE, QUARTERS, AND STORAGE.
