AS A COMMUNITY ACTION AGENCY, THE ORGANIZATION PRIORITIZES THE LIVED EXPERIENCE OF LOW-INCOME PEOPLE WITHIN NUMEROUS COMPONENTS OF OUR OPERATIONS UP TO AND INCLUDING INTERNAL HIRING PRACTICES AND THOSE OF OUR CONTRACTORS.SUMMARY OF THE PROPOSED PROJECT: AEOA HAS PROVIDED STATE BASED YOUTHBUILD PROGRAMMING FOR OVER 29 YEARS. THE PROPOSED PROGRAM WILL PROVIDE VALUABLE LIFE AND WORK SKILLS THROUGH EDUCATION AND INDUSTRY SPECIFIC TRAINING. THE PROGRAM WORKS WITH THE LOCAL ALTERNATIVE AND CHARTER SCHOOLS AND ADULT EDUCATION PROGRAM TO CONNECT YOUTH WITH HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY EDUCATION. THE YOUTH CAREER ADVISORS PROVIDE INSTRUCTION IN CONSTRUCTION THEORY AND ONSITE HANDS-ON PROJECT-BASED LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES PARALLEL TO COMMUNITY WORKSITE OPPORTUNITIES. EACH PARTICIPANT WILL ALSO BE PROVIDED SKILL TRAINING IN MANUFACTURING WELDING THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MINNESOTA NORTH COLLEGE APPLIED LEARNING INSTITUTE.
