THE HISPANIC ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION OF GREATER KANSAS CITY'S (HEDC) MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF LATINOS WITHIN THE GREATER KANSAS CITY AREA THROUGH BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND ECONOMIC AND COMMUNITY WEALTH CREATION INITIATIVES. THE VISTA PROJECT WILL SEEK TO START AND GROW SMALL BUSINESSES IN THE AREA, INCREASE HOUSEHOLD (AND BUSINESS) INCOME, AND CREATE SUSTAINABLE JOB OPPORTUNITIES; BENEFITING MORE THAN (800) LOW- TO MODERATE-INCOME INDIVIDUALS IN THE SERVICE AREA. FOUR (4) VISTA MEMBERS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT BY PERFORMING ACTIVITIES SUCH AS DEVELOPING A FORMAL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM, ASSISTING WITH MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS INITIATIVES, AND EVALUATING PROGRAM IMPACT AND SUCCESS (AND DEVELOPING NEW PROGRAMS). THIS PROJECT IS EXPECTED TO LAST THREE (3) YEARS.
