THE PURPOSE OF THE AWARD IS TO WORK IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE BUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENT (BLM) TO INCREASE AND ENHANCE RECREATION AND VISITOR SERVICES TO MEET THE NEEDS AND STRATEGIC GOALS FOR CANYONS OF THE ANCIENTS NATIONAL MONUMENT (CANM). SOUTHWEST COLORADO CANYONS ALLIANCE (SCCA) IS A 501(C)(3) NONPROFIT ORGANIZATION DEDICATED TO SUPPORTING CANM AND ASSOCIATED VISITOR CENTER MUSEUM (CAVM). THE SCCA MISSION INCLUDES RAISING PUBLIC AWARENESS, RECRUITING A VOLUNTEER WORKFORCE, FUNDING, AND SUPPORTING CONSERVATION, RESEARCH, AND EDUCATION PROJECTS. SCCA IS THE FRIENDS GROUP DEDICATED EXCLUSIVELY TO SERVE CANM. THROUGH THIS AWARD, SCCA WILL LEVERAGE DONATIONS, FUNDRAISING, AND MEMBERSHIPS TO CONTINUE AND EXPAND THE OFFERINGS FOR RECREATION, EDUCATION, AND VISITOR SERVICES THAT THE ORGANIZATION HAS BEEN PROVIDING IN SUPPORT OF BLMS MANAGEMENT OF THIS UNIQUE NATIONAL MONUMENT. WITH NEW BOARD MEMBERS AND NEW STAFF, SCCA IS WELL-POSITIONED TO PROVIDE VALUABLE ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT THE PROTECTION OF NATURAL AND CULTURAL RESOURCES OF CANM AND TO ENHANCE THE ENJOYMENT OF THE VISITING PUBLIC.
