THE PROJECT SERVICE AREA IS CENTRAL EAST OAKLAND, SURROUNDING TRYBES HEADQUARTERS IN SAN ANTONIO PARK, ONE OF OAKLANDS HIGHEST POPULATION DENSITY ZIP CODES, AND THE MOST VIOLENT OAKLAND POLICE BEAT WITH HIGH RATES OF HUMAN AND NARCOTICS TRAFFICKING, HOMICIDE, AND VIOLENT ASSAULTS. PROJECT ACTIVITIES WILL BUILD UPON CURRENTLY IMPLEMENTED STRATEGIES OF RELATIONSHIP BUILDING, YOUTH INTERNSHIPS, TRANSITIONAL EMPLOYMENT, AND CASE MANAGEMENT IN A TRAUMA-INFORMED ENVIRONMENT. EXPECTED OUTCOMES INCLUDE BUILDING AND MAINTAINING CLOSE RELATIONSHIPS WITH INDIVIDUALS AT THE HIGHEST RISK OF COMMITTING OR EXPERIENCING VIOLENT CRIMES; PARTICIPATING IN AND SPONSORING COMMUNITY EVENTS TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS; REDUCING YOUTH INVOLVEMENT IN VIOLENT CRIME AS VICTIMS AND PERPETRATORS, PROVIDING MENTOR AND PEER RELATIONSHIPS TO HEAL FROM TRAUMA, AND PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT PROGRAMS TO ESTABLISH LONG-TERM GOALS WHILE ADDRESSING BARRIERS TO HEALING.
