THE KENT COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE AND SAFE HAVEN MINISTRIES PROPOSE TO IMPLEMENT THE WEST MICHIGAN HUMAN TRAFFICKING TASK FORCE. THE WEST MICHIGAN HUMAN TRAFFICKING TASK FORCES JURISDICTIONAL AREA IS PRIMARILY KENT COUNTY, MICHIGAN. THE AREA INCLUDES GRAND RAPIDS, THE SECOND-LARGEST CITY IN MICHIGAN WITH A POPULATION OF NEARLY 200,000 RESIDENTS AND A TOTAL COUNTY POPULATION JUST SHY OF 660,000 RESIDENTS. BY ENGAGING SURROUNDING COMMUNITIES, THE TASK FORCE WILL BUILD A COORDINATED RESPONSE THAT CAN EVENTUALLY EXPAND BEYOND COUNTY LINES TO ENSURE COUNTY BARRIERS DO NOT INTERFERE WITH THE PROTECTION OF AND JUSTICE FOR SURVIVORS.
