TRI-STATE RURAL EMS WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING INITIATIVE - THE CHEROKEE COUNTY AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION, INC. PROPOSES THE TRI-STATE RURAL EMS WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AND TRAINING INITIATIVE TO STRENGTHEN THE RURAL EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WORKFORCE SERVING SOUTHEAST KANSAS, AND NEIGHBORING AREAS OF NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA AND SOUTHWEST MISSOURI. THROUGH COMPREHENSIVE TRAINING AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE, THE PROJECT WILL EXPAND ACCESS TO HIGH-QUALITY EMS EDUCATION, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH TRAINING, WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT, AND REGIONAL COLLABORATION TO IMPROVE EMERGENCY RESPONSE FOR INDIVIDUALS EXPERIENCING MEDICAL EMERGENCIES, BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CRISIS, SUBSTANCE USE DISORDERS, AND OPIOID OVERDOSES. THE PROJECT ADDRESSES WORKFORCE SHORTAGES, LIMITED ACCESS TO EMS EDUCATION, AND INCREASING BEHAVIORAL HEALTH NEEDS AFFECTING RURAL COMMUNITIES THROUGH THE UNITED STATES BY IMPLEMENTING A SUSTAINABLE REGIONAL TRAINING MODEL THAT CAN BE REPLICATED BY OTHER RURAL EMS AGENCIES. TRAINING WILL BE PROVIDED FOR 150 UNDUPLICATED EMS PERSONNEL, EXPANDING ACCESS TO BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND ADVANCED CLINICAL EDUCATION, INCREASING REGIONAL TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES, STRENGTHENING COORDINATION BETWEEN EMS AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH PROVIDERS, AND IMPLEMENTING A SUSTAINABLE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM SUPPORTED BY DEDICATED TRAINING LEADERSHIP AND REGIONAL PARTNERSHIPS.
