CONNECT EVERGREEN COALITION'S MISSION IS TO INCREASE COMMUNITY COLLABORATION AND AWARENESS TO PREVENT YOUTH SUBSTANCE ABUSE IN EVERGREEN SCHOOL DISTRICT. - CONNECT EVERGREEN SERVES THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE, WORK, AND LEARN IN THE BOUNDARIES OF EVERGREEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS. OUR MISSION IS TO INCREASE COMMUNITY COLLABORATION AND AWARENESS TO PREVENT YOUTH SUBSTANCE ABUSE IN THE COMMUNITY SERVED BY EVERGREEN PUBLIC SCHOOLS. OUR PREVENTION WORK IS CENTERED IN BELONGING AND DIGNITY, DRIVEN BY DATA AND LIVED EXPERIENCE OF THOSE MOST IMPACTED BY SUBSTANCE USE AND ADVERSITY, AND GROUNDED IN PRINCIPLES OF EQUITY, RESILIENCE, AND COMPASSIONATE ACCOUNTABILITY. THE WORKPLAN USES THE 7 STRATEGIES OF COMMUNITY CHANGE TO IMPROVE THE SCHOOL, SOCIAL, AND RELATIONAL ENVIRONMENTS OF OUR YOUTH. ACTIVITIES ARE LARGELY HOLISTIC IN NATURE, RECOGNIZING THE COMPLEX CONTEXT OF HOW EACH YOUNG PERSON NAVIGATES THEIR MENTAL AND PHYSICAL HEALTH. THE WORKPLAN IS COMPREHENSIVE IN APPROACH, INCLUDING SOCIAL-EMOTIONAL LEARNING (SEL), PRO-SOCIAL ACTIVITIES, PEER-LED LEADERSHIP FOR STUDENTS AND ADULTS, SCHOOL DISTRICT POLICY AND PROCESS CHANGE, CULTURALLY AND LINGUISTICALLY-SPECIFIC ENGAGEMENT, NEW RESOURCES FOR ONLINE STUDENTS, AND A VARIETY OF LEARNING AND SUPPORT ACTIVITIES FOR STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. OUR OVERALL SHORT, MEDIUM AND LONG TERM OUTCOMES INCLUDE (1) IMPROVING THE SCHOOL AND SOCIAL ENVIRONMENTS SO FAMILIES AND STUDENTS HAVE THE CAPACITY TO CONSIDER CHANGE. THIS WILL BE ACHIEVED THROUGH (A.) INCREASING COMMUNITY DIRECTED PRO-SOCIAL ACTIVITIES, (B.) INCREASING PARENT CONNECTIONS TO PREVENTION RESOURCES IN THEIR LANGUAGE, (C.) INCREASING KNOWLEDGE OF HOW MENTAL HEALTH AND BELONGING ARE CONNECTED AND (D.) INCREASING RESTORATIVE AND THERAPEUTIC OPTIONS FOR SUBSTANCE RELATED DISCIPLINE. THE MEDIUM RANGE OUTCOME AIMS TO (2) CHANGE NORMS BY INCREASING POSITIVE BEHAVIORS OF ADULTS AND YOUTH. WE WILL ACCOMPLISH THIS THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS, PARTICIPATION IN COALITION EVENTS, INCREASING THE SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING SKILLS IN SCHOOL STAFF, STUDENTS AND PARENTS AND FOCUSING ON IMPROVING ATTENDANCE OF OUR FOCUS POPULATIONS. FOR THE LONG TERM, THESE EFFORTS WILL RESULT IN A (3) MEASURABLE DECREASE OF HARMFUL BEHAVIORS IN ADULTS AND YOUTH AND A THRIVING, ROBUST AND ACTIVE COALITION WORKING TOWARDS CONTINUED IMPROVEMENT. CONNECT EVERGREEN WILL INCREASE THE REPRESENTATION OF YOUTH AND FAMILIES IN THE COALITION ACTIVITIES AS WELL AS DEVELOP COLLECTIVE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES TO ENGAGE YOUTH AND ADULTS ACROSS SECTORS. WE STRIVE TO BUILD RESILIENCE THROUGH RELATIONSHIPS, AND INCREASE COMMUNITY AWARENESS OF THE IMPACT OF MARGINALIZATION, TRAUMA AND ADVERSITY ON YOUTH BRAIN DEVELOPMENT AND SUBSTANCE MISUSE.
