THIS PROJECT WILL PROVIDE YOUNG ADULTS PRACTICAL, HANDSON EXPERIENCE IN THE FIELD OF CONSERVATION AND INVASIVE PLANT MANAGEMENT AT ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK SERVICE UNITS. THEY WILL ASSIST PARK AND REGIONAL STAFF TO REACH AND HERBICIDE TREAT AND OR MANUALLY REMOVE INVASIVE PLANTS IN HIGH PRIORITY GRASSLAND OR RIPARIAN AREAS. CREWS MAY ALSO BE TASKED WITH SEED COLLECTION AND OTHER RESTORATION TASKS.BENEFICIARIES INCLUDE PRIVATE NONPROFIT INSTITUTIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS PUBLIC AND PRIVATE NONPROFIT ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES QUASIPUBLIC NONPROFIT INSTITUTIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT SUPPORT YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULT CAREER TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT, AND EDUCATION IN THE AREAS OF NATURAL AND OR CULTURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT. INDIVIDUALS FAMILIES STUDENTS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC WILL RECEIVE A BENEFIT FROM THE DEVELOPMENT AND EXECUTION OF THESE PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS.

THIS PROGRAM UTILIZES QUALIFIED NON-PROFIT YOUTH- AND VETERAN-SERVING ORGANIZATIONS TO CARRY OUT APPROPRIATE NATURAL AND CULTURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION, EDUCATION, VOLUNTEER SERVICE AND EDUCATION PROJECTS ON DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR LANDS THROUGH AUTHORIZED NATIONAL PARK SERVICE PROGRAMS. THIS PROJECT PLACES ONE YOUTH INTERN ON THE TRAIL CREW AT ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK FOR 12 WEEKS TO HELP REPAIR AND MAINTAIN TRAILS IN THE EAST DISTRICT. THE INTERN WILL CLEAR BRUSH AND FALLEN LOGS, IMPROVE DRAINAGE FEATURES, REPAIR TRAIL SURFACES, SUPPORT DAILY SHOP TASKS, AND ASSIST WITH BUILDING STEPS, RETAINING WALLS, AND OTHER TRAIL STRUCTURES. THE PROJECT WILL RESULT IN SAFER, BETTERMAINTAINED TRAILS FOR VISITORS AND PROVIDE THE INTERN WITH HANDS-ON SKILLS IN TRAIL CONSTRUCTION AND OUTDOOR FIELDWORK.BENEFICIARIES INCLUDE PRIVATE NON-PROFIT INSTITUTIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS PUBLIC AND PRIVATE NON-PROFIT ACADEMIC INSTITUTIONS STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES QUASI-PUBLIC NON-PROFIT INSTITUTIONS AND ORGANIZATIONS THAT SUPPORT YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULT CAREER TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT, AND EDUCATION IN THE AREAS OF NATURAL AND OR CULTURAL RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND MANAGEMENT. INDIVIDUALS FAMILIES STUDENTS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC WILL RECEIVE A BENEFIT FROM THE DEVELOPMENT AND EXECUTION OF THESE PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS.
