THIS PROJECT WILL ASSIST STUDENTS AND EARLY-CAREER RESEARCHERS AT THIS CRITICAL BUT RESOURCE-LIMITED STAGE IN THEIR CAREERS BY PARTIALLY FUNDING THE TRAVEL AND EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH ATTENDING THE CONFERENCE, THUS EXPOSING THEM TO EXCEPTIONAL TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES AND TO THE LATEST RESEARCH IN COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY. ISMB DISTINGUISHES ITSELF FROM OTHER COMPUTATIONAL OR ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-FOCUSED CONFERENCES THROUGH ITS EMPHASIS ON THE APPLICATION OF COMPUTATIONAL INNOVATION TO REAL BIOLOGICAL AND BIOMEDICAL DATA. ISMB FEATURES HIGHLY PRESTIGIOUS PEER-REVIEWED PROCEEDINGS PAPERS, HIGHLIGHTS OF RECENTLY PUBLISHED WORK, EMERGING TOPIC SESSIONS, TUTORIALS, TECHNOLOGY DEMONSTRATIONS, AND POSTER PRESENTATIONS. ISMB DISTINGUISHES ITSELF FROM OTHER COMPUTATIONAL OR ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-FOCUSED CONFERENCES THROUGH ITS EMPHASIS ON THE APPLICATION OF COMPUTATIONAL INNOVATION TO REAL BIOLOGICAL AND BIOMEDICAL DATA. THE CONFERENCE SERVES AS A BRIDGE BETWEEN METHODOLOGICAL DEVELOPMENT AND BIOLOGICAL DISCOVERY, BRINGING TOGETHER RESEARCHERS WHO MIGHT OTHERWISE REMAIN SEPARATED BY DISCIPLINARY BOUNDARIES. PARTICIPATION IN ISMB PROVIDES STUDENTS AND EARLY-CAREER RESEARCHERS WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE DIRECTLY WITH LEADERS IN THE FIELD, LEARN EMERGING ANALYTICAL APPROACHES, AND BUILD THE INTERDISCIPLINARY COLLABORATIONS THAT DRIVE MODERN LIFE SCIENCE RESEARCH. THIS ENABLES EXPANSION OF THE WORKFORCE IN THIS CRITICAL AREA BETWEEN COMPUTING AND THE BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES. THIS AWARD REFLECTS NSF'S STATUTORY MISSION AND HAS BEEN DEEMED WORTHY OF SUPPORT THROUGH EVALUATION USING THE FOUNDATION'S INTELLECTUAL MERIT AND BROADER IMPACTS REVIEW CRITERIA.- SUBAWARDS ARE NOT PLANNED FOR THIS AWARD.
