APPROPRIATION LEVELS DETERMINE THE NUMBER OF TOTAL SLOTS, AND GRANTEES SERVE ALL SLOTS IN THEIR SERVICE AREA. PROGRAMS RUN ON A PROGRAM YEAR (JULY 1 - JUNE 30).ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMEDPRIMARILY COMMUNITY SERVICE EMPLOYMENT ACTIVITIES, WHERE PARTICIPANTS WORK PART-TIME AT A COMMUNITY SERVICE LOCATION (NOT FOR PROFIT) FOR MINIMUM WAGE. EXPERIENCED SERVICES PROGRAM ESP PARTICIPANTS WILL PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE AND SUPPORT TO THE NPS IN THE DEVELOPMENT AND EXECUTION OF PROJECTS THAT BENEFIT THE GENERAL PUBLIC AND PROVIDE SUPPORT TO NPS EMPLOYEES THIS PROGRAM WILL PROVIDE OPPORTUNITIES TO QUALIFIED INDIVIDUALS 55 YEARS OF AGE AND OLDER, WHO HAVE SPECIFIC TECHNICAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES NOT AVAILABLE OR UNDERREPRESENTED AT CURRENT NPS STAFFING LEVELS THE ESP PARTICIPANTS WILL NOT REPLACE OR DISPLACE CURRENT NPS EMPLOYEES THIS PROJECT WILL IMPROVE THE ACCURACY OF GIS MAPS FOR 1,000 NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARKS NHL THROUGHOUT THE NORTHEAST REGION, WHICH ARE OWNED AND MANAGED BY A VARIETY OF ORGANIZATIONS, INCLUDING FEDERAL AGENCIES, STATE AND LOCAL LEVELS OF GOVERNMENT, PRIVATE ORGANIZATIONS, AND NON PROFITS THEY WILL ALSO CREATE USER TOOLS TO IMPROVE ROUTINE QUERIES AND SEARCHES WORK WILL ALSO INCLUDE THE CREATION OF TWO INTERPRETIVE STORY MAPS FOR A PUBLIC AUDIENCE TO HIGHLIGHT THE HISTORY AND SIGNIFICANCE OF NHLS AS WELL AS THE WORK OF THE NHL PROGRAM PERFORMANCE GOALS INCLUDING MILESTONES AND EXPECTED OUTCOMES WORK ON THIS PROJECT WILL BEGIN IN EARLY 2023 AND CLOSE BY THE END OF SEPTEMBER BY THE TIME THE PROJECT CONCLUDES IN SEPTEMBER 2023, IT IS ANTICIPATED THAT MORE THAN 1,000 NHL MAPS WILL HAVE BEEN CORRECTED, AND BOTH STORY MAPS PRODUCED BENEFICIARIES ESP HIRES 55 IN AGE BENEFIT FROM THE PROGRAM, THE DEVELOPMENT OF STORY MAPS WILL ALSO BENEFIT THE PUBLIC, BECAUSE THEY WILL HAVE UP TO DATE AND ENGAGING INFORMATION ABOUT THE HISTORY AND SIGNIFICANCE OF THESE SIGNIFICANT PLACES IN AMERICAN HISTORY

THE ENROLLEE WILL PROVIDE VISITOR SUPPORT DURING THE SUMMER OF 2023 TO APOSTLE ISLANDS NATIONAL LAKESHORE.
