PURPOSE: THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO CONVENE STAKEHOLDERS AND FACILITATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF A CONSENSUS PERFORMANCE METRICS DOCUMENT AND VALIDATION PROTOCOL FOR DRUG TEST STRIPS USED IN DRUG PRODUCT TESTING. ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED: AOAC IS PROPOSING IDENTIFY AND CONVENE STAKEHOLDERS WITH A VESTED INTEREST IN DRUG TEST STRIP PERFORMANCE AND DEVELOPING STANDARD PROTOCOLS FOR VALIDATION. ONCE IDENTIFIED, AOAC WILL FACILITATE THE DEVELOPMENT OF A STANDARD PERFORMANCE METRIC DOCUMENT AND VALIDATION PROTOCOL. ONCE DEVELOPED, AOAC WILL DISSEMINATE THESE RESOURCES TO THE COMMUNITY.EXPECTED OUTCOMES: THIS PROJECT WILL RESULT IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF CRITICAL PERFORMANCE METRICS AND VALIDATION PROTOCOLS TO ADDRESS DOCUMENTED ISSUES WITH TEST STRIP VARIABILITY BETWEEN MANUFACTURERS AND ACROSS BATCHES. THESE DOCUMENTS WILL ALSO PROVIDE INDUSTRY WITH THE NECESSARY METRICS THAT NEED TO BE ACHIEVED IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF TEST STRIPS.INTENDED BENEFICIARIES: INDUSTRY, PUBLIC HEALTH AGENCIES, LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES, FORENSIC SCIENCE LABORATORIES, AND OTHER ENTITIES THAT USE TEST STRIPS FOR DRUG PRODUCT TESTING WILL ALL BE BENEFICIARIES OF THIS PROJECT.SUBRECIPIENT ACTIVITIES: THE RECIPIENT DOES NOT INTEND TO SUBAWARD FUNDS.
