PARTICIPATION IN TECHNICAL WORKING GROUPS AND RELATED EVENTS. THE PLANNED DEVELOPMENT OF LEARNING MODULES AND POLICY BRIEFS ON INTEROPERABILITY, TESTING AND CERTIFICATION, AND CYBERSECURITY DESIGNED FOR STATE REGULATORS IS OF CRITICAL IMPORTANCE AS REGULATORS OVERSEE THE DEPLOYMENT OF SMART GRID TECHNOLOGIES BY UTILITIES. THE RESEARCH ADDRESSES ANOTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION DISSEMINATION GOAL BY ENABLING REGULATORS AND STAFF TO PARTICIPATE IN TECHNICAL WORKING GROUPS. EXPECTED OUTCOMES: THE PROPOSED OUTPUTS OF THIS PROJECT SUCH AS LEARNING MODULES AND POLICY BRIEFS WILL HAVE IMPACT ON THE IMPLEMENTATION OF SMART GRID INTEROPERABILITY, TESTING AND CERTIFICATION, AND CYBERSECURITY. THE PROPOSED TASKS CAN GENERATE USEFUL INFORMATION TO INFORM STATE PUCS AS WELL AS OTHER POLICY AND REGULATION STAKEHOLDERS ABOUT THE STATE OF TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND DEPLOYMENT, INCLUDING INTEROPERABILITY, TESTING AND CERTIFICATION, AND CYBERSECURITY CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS. THROUGH THE PROPOSED LEARNING MODULES AND POLICY BRIEFS, STATE REGULATORS AND STAFF WILL HAVE ACCESS TO TECHNICAL RESOURCES THAT SUPPORT THEIR INDEPENDENT ANALYSES OF SMART GRID DEPLOYMENTS.INTENDED BENEFICIARIES: THE RESEARCH DEVELOPED THROUGH THIS PROJECT WILL PROVIDE USEFUL INFORMATION TO STATE PUCS AS WELL AS OTHER POLICY AND REGULATION STAKEHOLDERS ABOUT THE STATE OF TECHNOLOGY DEVELOPMENT AND DEPLOYMENT, INCLUDING INTEROPERABILITY, TESTING AND CERTIFICATION, AND CYBERSECURITY CHALLENGES AND SOLUTIONS. NARUC MEMBERS OVERSEE THE PLANNING, SITING, AND DEPLOYMENT OF ENERGY RESOURCES, MANAGE ENERGY MARKETS, CREATE INCENTIVES, AND APPROVE THE COST RECOVERY OF UTILITY INVESTMENTS. THROUGH THE PROPOSED LEARNING MODULES AND POLICY BRIEFS, STATE REGULATORS AND STAFF WILL HAVE ACCESS TO TECHNICAL RESOURCES THAT SUPPORT THEIR INDEPENDENT ANALYSES OF SMART GRID DEPLOYMENTS. THIS PROJECT WILL ENABLE NARUC TO CONTINUE PROVIDING STATE PUCS WITH INFORMATION ABOUT TRANSFORMATIVE TECHNOLOGIES TO HELP SHAPE THE STANDARDS, METRICS, AND PROGRAMS THAT DETERMINE HOW THEY WILL BE DEPLOYED, WHICH WILL ULTIMATELY AID WITH MODERNIZING THE ELECTRIC GRID WHILE MAINTAINING RELIABLE SERVICE. THIS WILL MORE INFORMED DECISION MAKING FROM PUBLIC COMMISSIONS THAT COULD ENHANCE BENEFIT REALIZED FROM PUBLIC SMART GRID INVESTMENTS.SUBRECIPIENT ACTIVITIES: THE RECIPIENT PLANS TO SUBAWARD FUNDS TO SUPPORT TECHNICAL REVIEW OF MATERIALS.
