DESCRIPTION:THIS PROJECT WILL DEVELOP AND DESIGN A NOVEL BIODIESEL REACTION SYSTEM THAT CONVERTS DISCARDED COOKING OIL INTO BIODIESEL ETHYL ESTER ENERGY TO POWER SMALL SCALE EQUIPMENT. ACTIVITIES:THE PROJECT WILL (1) EVALUATE A REACTOR SYSTEM CONCEPT THAT WILL BE CONSTRUCTED TO PRODUCE BIODIESEL AT A FIFTY-GALLON SCALE. UPON SUCCESSFUL EVALUATION, (2) GLYCEROXIDE CATALYST FORMULATION WILL BE TESTED FOR BIODIESEL PRODUCTION AT A LARGER SCALE. SUBRECIPIENT:NO SUBAWARDS ARE INCLUDED IN THIS ASSISTANCE AGREEMENT.OUTCOMES:THE PROJECT OUTCOME WILL BE A NOVEL RENEWABLE FORM OF ENERGY PRODUCTION. ANTICIPATED DELIVERABLES INCLUDE INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOPS, EDUCATIONAL COURSES, AND ANNUAL REPORTS. INTENDED BENEFICIARIES INCLUDE UNIVERSITY LABORATORIES, SMALL SCALE INDUSTRY, STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
