THIS TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IS DESPERATELY NEEDED IN THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AS THE JOINT CITIZENS AND LEGISLATIVE COMMITTEE ON CHILDREN 2020 REPORT INDICATES THAT 101,618 CHILDREN AGES 3 TO 17 WERE IDENTIFIED AS HAVING A DISABLING CONDITION IN 2019. THE REPORT STATES THE RATE OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES AGES 18 TO 24 WHO WERE NEITHER IN SCHOOL NOR WORKING WAS 34.5 PERCENT COMPARED TO 11.9 PERCENT OF THEIR PEERS WITHOUT DISABILITIES, WITH A HIGH SCHOOL DROPOUT RATE OF 12.4 PERCENT. TRAGICALLY, SUICIDE IS THE 2ND LEADING FOR YOUTH AGES 10-24, ACCORDING TO THE 2018 CENTERS FOR DISEASE CONTROL AND PREVENTION DATA & STATISTICS FATAL INJURY REPORT. STRATEGIES AND INTERVENTIONS TO ACCOMPLISH PROJECT AIM WILL INCLUDE THE DEVELOPMENT OF TARGETED OUTREACH PLANS, UTILIZATION OF TARGETED TRAININGS, AND THE ENGAGEMENT OF FAMILIES/YOUTH AS GUIDES AT EACH JUNCTURE OF THE PROJECT. SPECIFIC PROJECT GOALS FOCUSED ON FAMILIES AND CHILDREN WITH SED INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: GOAL 1. FFSC WILL STRENGTHEN ITS ORGANIZATIONAL BUSINESS MANAGEMENT SKILLS AND RELATIONSHIPS WITH COMMUNITY FAMILY NETWORKS AND STATE AND LOCAL CHILD-SERVING AGENCIES AND ORGANIZATIONS. OBJECTIVES. GOAL 2. FFSC WILL FOSTER FAMILY LEADERSHIP SKILLS. OBJECTIVES.
