BASIC IS THE ONLY COMPREHENSIVE HIV/AIDS ORGANIZATION IN THE REGION THAT PROVIDES A FULL CONTINUUM OF HIV/AIDS SERVICES INCLUDING EVIDENCE-BASED HIV PREVENTION INTERVENTIONS, HIV TESTING, CARE/TREATMENT BY ESTABLISHED REFERRAL ARRANGEMENTS, AND ESSENTIAL SUPPORT SERVICES INCLUDING HOUSING ASSISTANCE FOR PLWH. AS THE LEAD AGENCY FOR COORDINATION OF ALL SERVICES UNDER RYAN WHITE PART B PROGRAM SINCE 1992, BASIC PROVIDES CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES TO APPROXIMATELY 300 PLWH ANNUALLY. THE ORGANIZATION SPONSORS MULTIPLE HIV PREVENTION PROGRAMS, INCLUDING HIGH IMPACT PREVENTION (HIP) AND LINKAGE TO CARE, REACHING OVER 5,700 PEOPLE EACH YEAR. PROPOSED PROJECTIN FLORIDA, IT IS ESTIMATED THAT 12.8% OF RESIDENTS ARE UNAWARE OF THEIR HIV STATUS (STATE OF FLORIDA HIV PREVENTION AND CARE PLAN: 2017-2021, FDOH, 2016). THE EPIDEMIC IS PROFOUNDLY IMPACTING THE AFRICAN AMERICAN POPULATION, WHO REPRESENT OVER HALF (51.6%) OF CASES IN THE SERVICE AREA (FDOH, 2018). BASED ON ITS STRONG FOUNDATION OF EXPERIENCE, EXPERTISE IN HIV PREVENTION, AND EXTENSIVE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS, BASIC IS WELL EQUIPPED TO LEAD LOCAL EFFORTS TO END THE HIV EPIDEMIC BY COORDINATING AND IMPLEMENTING COMMUNITY-BASED STRATEGIES TO DIAGNOSE HIV AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE; TREAT HIV QUICKLY AND EFFECTIVELY; PREVENT NEW HIV CASES; AND RESPOND QUICKLY TO HIV CLUSTERS. BASIC WILL IMPLEMENT SEVERAL HIP STRATEGIES TO SUPPORT THE PS21-2102 PROJECT: ART AS, PARTNERSHIP FOR HEALTH ?
