CONCURRENTLY WITH THESE GLOBAL CHALLENGES, HOWEVER, THE ECONOMICS PROFESSION IS FACING ITS OWN CHALLENGES WITH CONTINUED CONCERNS THAT ECONOMICS REMAINS INACCESSIBLE TO HISTORICALLY UNDERREPRESENTED GROUPS. THESE CHALLENGES IN THE PROFESSION MAY MAKE GRADUATE STUDENTS LESS LIKELY TO PURSUE CAREERS IN APPLIED ECONOMICS, HURTING OUR CHANCES TO CONTRIBUTE MEANINGFULLY AS A PROFESSION TO ADDRESS THE ISSUES NOTED ABOVE.
