PURPOSE: THE PURPOSE OF THIS GRANT IS THE DEVELOPMENT AND PUBLICATION OF A ROADMAP OF RESEARCH NEEDS FOR TORNADO WIND HAZARDS.ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED: THE ACTIVITIES TO BE PERFORMED INCLUDE: APPOINTMENT OF A WORKSHOP STEERING COMMITTEE (WSC); REVIEW OF THE CURRENT STATE-OF-THE-ART PROVISIONS FOR DESIGN OF BUILDINGS FOR TORNADO EFFECTS; PLANNING AND CONDUCTING A MULTIDAY WORKSHOP TO IDENTIFY AND PRIORITIZE RESEARCH AND OTHER ACTIVITIES NEEDED TO ADVANCE TORNADO DESIGN FROM THE CURRENT STATE TO THE FUTURE IDEAL; WRITING AND PUBLISHING, THE TORNADO RESEARCH NEEDS ROADMAP REPORT; AND PUBLICIZING THE ROADMAP INFORMATION AND AVAILABILITY OF THE REPORT THROUGH MULTIPLE CHANNELS, INCLUDING PRESENTATIONS AT TECHNICAL CONFERENCES.EXPECTED OUTCOMES: THE PRIORITIZED RESEARCH ROADMAP SHOULD LEAD TO IMPROVED TORNADO LOAD PROVISIONS IN BUILDING CODES AND STANDARDS, WHICH WILL ULTIMATELY INCREASE THE ABILITY OF BUILDINGS AND COMMUNITIES TO WITHSTAND THE IMPACTS OF TORNADOES.INTENDED BENEFICIARIES: INTENDED BENEFICIARIES INCLUDE RESEARCH ORGANIZATIONS, GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES, STANDARDS DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATIONS, BUILDING DESIGNERS, CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL PRODUCERS, AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC.SUBRECIPIENT ACTIVITIES: THE RECIPIENT DOES NOT INTEND TO SUBAWARD FUNDS.
