YWCA GREATER BATON ROUGE'S MISSION IS DEDICATED TO ELIMINATING RACISM; EMPOWERING WOMEN; AND PROMOTING PEACE, JUSTICE, FREEDOM, AND DIGNITY FOR ALL. THE PROPOSED VISTA PROJECT ALIGNS WITH THE EDUCATION AND HEALTHY FUTURES FOCUS AREAS. THE VISTA PROJECT WILL SEEK TO BOTH IMPROVE SCHOOL READINESS FOR 138 ECONOMICALLY DISADVANTAGED YOUNG CHILDREN, AS WELL AS 12 EXPECTING MOTHERS, AND IMPROVE ACCESS TO PRIMARY AND PREVENTIVE HEALTH CARE FOR 60 TEEN GIRLS IN COMMUNITIES SERVED BY CNCS-SUPPORTED PROGRAMS (ACCESS TO HEALTH CARE). FIVE VISTA MEMBERS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT BY PERFORMING ACTIVITIES SUCH AS COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND ENGAGEMENT, FINANCIAL RESOURCES, MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT, PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT, AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT AND DELIVERY OVER THE COURSE OF THEIR YEAR OF SERVICE.
