CAMP FIRE USA CENTRAL ALABAMA COUNCIL'S PROMISE/MISSION STATEMENT IS: "YOUNG PEOPLE WANT TO SHAPE THE WORLD. CAMP FIRE PROVIDES THE OPPORTUNITY TO FIND THEIR SPARK, LIFT THEIR VOICE, AND DISCOVER WHO THEY ARE. IN CAMP FIRE, IT BEGINS NOW. LIGHT THE FIRE WITHIN." THE PROPOSED VISTA PROJECT ALIGNS WITH THE HEALTHY FUTURES AND EDUCATION FOCUS AREAS. THE VISTA PROJECT SEEKS TO INCREASE EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, PROVIDE A SUSTAINABLE REVENUE SOURCE FOR CAMP OPERATIONS, ENHANCE THE VALUE OF CAMP, INCREASE THE AWARENESS OF CAMP FROM COMMUNITY AND SPECIAL-INTEREST GROUPS, AND BROADEN THE POOL OF POTENTIAL SUPPORTERS AND SPONSORS FOR CAMP. WE EXPECT TO BENEFIT LOW INCOME YOUTH AND SENIORS, LOW INCOME FAMILIES, AND LOW INCOME COMMUNITIES. THROUGH OUR VISTA PROJECT WE PROJECT SERVICE TO THOUSANDS OF YOUTH THROUGH OUR SUSTAINABLE CAMP, FIELD TRIP, AND SCHOOL GARDEN CURRICULA. LOW INCOME FAMILIES AND SENIORS ARE SERVED THROUGH DISTRIBUTION OF THE PRODUCE GROWN IN OUR EDUCATION GARDEN. EIGHT VISTA MEMBERS WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE GOALS OF THE PROJECT BY PERFORMING ACTIVITIES SUCH AS COMMUNITY/ASSET MAPPING, CURRICULA DEVELOPMENT/STAFF TRAINING, RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (FUNDRAISING/IN-KIND), COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT (MARKETING/PR/VOLUNTEERS), AND AGRICULTURE RELATIONS/DISTRIBUTION OVER THE COURSE OF FIVE YEARS.
