MOSAIC’S SERVICES FOR VICTIMS OF TRAFFICKING PROGRAM WILL SERVE TRAFFICKED PERSONS UNCOVERED IN THE NORTH TEXAS REGION, WHICH INCLUDES THE DALLAS-FORT WORTH (DFW) METROPLEX. THIS PROJECT IS TARGETED TO MEET THE COMPLEX NEEDS OF REFUGEE, IMMIGRANT, AND LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENT TRAFFICKING VICTIMS. MOSAIC’S HIGHLY MULTICULTURAL, MULTILINGUAL STAFF AND CULTURALLY COMPETENT SERVICES GREATLY ENHANCE ITS CAPACITY TO SERVE REFUGEE AND IMMIGRANT TRAFFICKING VICTIMS. MOSAIC PLANS TO SERVE 375 TRAFFICKING VICTIMS FOR THIS PROJECT (125 VICTIMS ANNUALLY). PRIMARY ACTIVITIES FOR THIS PROJECT INCLUDE CASE MANAGEMENT, ADVOCACY, EMERGENCY SHELTER, COUNSELING, AND EXTENSIVE COMMUNITY OUTREACH TO IMPROVE COMMUNITY UNDERSTANDING OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING. MOSAIC WILL ALSO LINK CLIENTS WITH ADDITIONAL MEDICAL CARE, EDUCATION, APPLICABLE GOVERNMENT BENEFITS, AND OTHER NEEDS. VICTIMS SERVED BY THE PROGRAM WILL INCREASE SAFETY, WELL-BEING, AND SELF-SUFFICIENCY AND DECREASE ANXIETY/DEPRESSION LEVELS. PROFESSIONALS AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS TRAINED WILL INCREASE KNOWLEDGE OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING AND IMPROVE CAPACITY TO IDENTIFY VICTIMS. GRANT FUNDS MAY BE USED TO: 1) WORK WITH FEDERAL, STATE, TRIBAL, TERRITORIAL, AND LOCAL GOVERNMENTS, AGENCIES, AND ORGANIZATIONS TO DEVELOP OR ENHANCE POPULATION SPECIFIC VICTIM SERVICES; 2) STRENGTHEN THE CAPACITY OF UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS TO PROVIDE POPULATION SPECIFIC VICTIM SERVICES; 3) STRENGTHEN THE CAPACITY OF TRADITIONAL VICTIM SERVICE PROVIDERS TO PROVIDE POPULATION SPECIFIC VICTIM SERVICES; 4) STRENGTHEN THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL JUSTICE INTERVENTIONS BY PROVIDING TRAINING FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT, PROSECUTORS, JUDGES, AND OTHER COURT PERSONNEL ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, DATING VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, OR STALKING IN UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS; 5) WORK IN COOPERATION WITH AN UNDERSERVED POPULATION TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT OUTREACH, EDUCATION, PREVENTION, AND INTERVENTION STRATEGIES THAT HIGHLIGHT AVAILABLE RESOURCES AND THE SPECIFIC ISSUES FACED BY VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, DATING VIOLENCE, SEXUAL ASSAULT, OR STALKING FROM UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS; OR, 6) STRENGTHEN THE RESPONSE OF SOCIAL AND HUMAN SERVICES BY PROVIDING POPULATION-SPECIFIC TRAINING FOR SERVICE PROVIDERS ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, DATING VIOLENCE SEXUAL ASSAULT, OR STALKING IN UNDERSERVED POPULATIONS. ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS ARE LIMITED TO: POPULATION SPECIFIC ORGANIZATIONS OR VICTIM SERVICE PROVIDERS THAT ARE (1) DEAF PROGRAMS (2) LESBIAN, GAY, BISEXUAL, AND TRANSGENDER (LGBT) ORGANIZATIONS, (3) ORGANIZATIONS SERVING UNDERSERVED RELIGIOUS POPULATIONS, (4) DISABILITY PROGRAMS, OR (5) ORGANIZATIONS SERVING CERTAIN UNDERSERVED RACIAL AND ETHNIC POPULATIONS. THE VISION OF MOSAIC FAMILY SERVICES (MFS) IS TO PROVIDE EQUITABLE SERVICES TO MULTICULTURAL AND LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENT SURVIVORS OF DV, SA, AND STALKING. TO CONTINUE WITH THIS VISION, MFS WILL PROVIDE CASE MANAGEMENT, ADVOCACY, SAFETY PLANNING, RESOURCE REFERRAL AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO SURVIVORS FROM RACIAL AND ETHNIC POPULATIONS WHO HAVE ADDITIONAL BARRIERS TO COME, UTILIZING INTERPRETATION SERVICES WHEN NEEDED. SERVICES FOR SURVIVORS WILL BEGIN WITH COMMUNITY REFERRAL OR VIA HOTLINE. INTAKE ASSESSMENT WILL INCLUDE RISK ASSESSMENT TO INFORM SAFETY PLANNING NEEDS. CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES WILL BE COMPREHENSIVE AND INCLUDE REFERRAL TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES AS WELL AS IN-HOUSE PROGRAMS. MFS WILL CREATE NEW INFORMATIVE PROGRAMMATIC PRODUCTS SUCH AS FLYERS, BROCHURES, AND OUTREACH MATERIALS. CASE MANAGERS WILL PROVIDE ACCOMPANIMENT TO COURT, MEDICAL CARE, FORENSIC EXAMS, PUBLIC BENEFIT OFFICES, AND OTHER APPOINTMENTS FOR ADVOCACY PURPOSES WHEN RELEVANT TO THE SURVIVORS CARE PLAN. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FOR FOOD, CLOTHING, EMERGENCY MEDICAL CARE AND PRESCRIPTIONS, TRANSPORTATION, RENT AND UTILITY PAYMENTS WILL BE PROVIDED TO SURVIVORS. MFS WILL ALSO PROVIDE COMMUNITY OUTREACH. ALL SERVICES WILL BE DELIVERED UTILIZING A TRAUMA-INFORMED, CULTURALLY COMPETENT FRAMEWORK.
