THE FOUNDATION'S MISSION EMBODIES THE CHARACTER AND VALUES OF DETECTIVE WENJIAN LIU, A NEW YORK POLICE DEPARTMENT DETECTIVE WHO WAS SHOT AND KILLED IN THE LINE OF DUTY IN A MARKED PATROL CAR IN DECEMBER 2014. THE FOUNDATION STRIVES TO POSITIVELY IMPACT THE LIVES OF FIRST RESPONDER, MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO SUFFER DISTRESS FROM TRAUMATIC EPISODES ENCOUNTERED IN FULFILLING THEIR DUTY OF PROTECTING THE COMMUNITY AND THE COUNTRY. IN CARRYING OUT ITS MISSION, THE FOUNDATION ALSO ENDEAVORS TO POSITIVELY IMPACT DOGS THROUGH RESCUE, CARE AND TRAINING TO SERVE AS THERAPY DOGS.
