DESCRIPTION:PURPOSE: THIS PROJECT SUPPORTS EPA'S STRATEGIC PLAN GOAL 1 (A CLEANER HEALTHIER ENVIRONMENT), OBJECTIVE 1.3 (REVITALIZE LAND AND PREVENT CONTAMINATION). ). THIS OPPORTUNITY WILL ALLOW THE RECIPIENT TO TAKE STEPS TO FURTHER IMPROVE QUANTIFICATION OF THE IMPACT OF FOOD WASTE ON CLIMATE CHANGE. SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES: THE RECIPIENT WILL DEVELOP DATA FOR FACTORS NOT YET INCLUDED IN LCA TOOLS (WARM, INSIGHTS, FOOD WASTE IMPACT CALCULATOR) AND DEVELOP A MORE COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING OF THE NET EMISSION FACTORS OF SOLUTIONS EMPLOYED AT EVERY LEVEL OF THE FOOD SYSTEM. THE RECIPIENT WILL ALSO WORK WITH A CLIMATE FELLOW TO COMPARE THE DATA DEVELOPED AND DELIVERED BY THE RECIPIENT TO OTHER CLIMATE DATA POINTS TO IDENTIFY ANY CONFLICTING INFORMATION AND FURTHER ESSENTIAL RESEARCH EFFORTS NEED. OUTCOMES: WORK ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH THIS GRANT WILL ENHANCE SEVERAL TOOLS AND PROVIDE THE NEEDED GRANULARITY TO CREATE INFORMED SOLUTIONS.
